  1. To answer a load of posts without quoting them individually. Like last season I think we will be better off during the middle third, due to our squad and also the 7 subs rule. I'm not sure if anyone commented last week but Southend only named 6 subs when we played them. That number is likely to go down unless their ownership is sorted AND they are active in the transfer market. For all his faults Fondop probably makes the team for most teams in this division. He's our third choice, which means he's our second sub. Our squad is very strong, even if the team might not be relatively. We've got double the points we had after 9 games last season. We won't be playing catch-up to the same extent. Despite that we were comfortably in the playoffs in late Feb. I live relatively centrally in the nearest major city to both Yeovil and FGR. Both are over 3 hours away by public transport. That's how much of a pain it is to get to either place and also why I drive to both (under an hour). Like a lot of those Somerset / Wiltshire / Gloucestershire towns Warminster is very local and doesn't have much night life. Be better off staying in Taunton. The night life in some of the costal towns might be good though, except getting to Yeovil could be an issue. As this board's resident BBC quizzing expert passing is the best option when you aren't sure because the quiz master doesn't then have to give the right answer before the next question. It's quicker so you might get at least another question if not more. Taking a comfortable 30 seconds to do the mental arithmetic and despite doing the sums correctly saying the wrong answer doesn't help.
  2. Stockport and Wrexham are not bigger clubs than Oldham. Despite all their additional money they are unlikely to reach that level. To be a bigger club than us, you need to have won a major English Trophy. They are unlikely to ever do that. Wrexham haven't even played in the top flight, and OK they've played in Europe but only by virtue of winning the equivalent of a group of the EFL Trophy due to where the Welsh clubs were at the time. Stockport haven't played in the top flight either. Wrexham and Stockport might be a better club now but in my lifetime we've been 3 divisions above both. However, the other 5 I have to give credit to, begrudgingly in Wigan's case. They've won a major English Trophy they are bigger than us.
  3. Not as depressing as going to Halifax on a Tuesday night for a game that's postponed because of some light drizzle.
  4. As mentioned the paths to, and in, the away end and trees cause accessibility issues, not sure how wheelchair users get on, but I'd guess they use a home entrance. The change in toilet locations made them more difficult for those in the seating area to access. Given those sitting down are probably more likely to have mobility issues that could be an issue. Furthermore while alcohol sanitizer is usually an appropriate alternative to hand washing with soap and water it isn't always. Some organisms need soap and water and those organisms are the ones you don't want. Therefore you need to assess if the porta-potties meet infection control requirements. How did the catering staff wash their hands? While marked on the seating plan some of the seats had restricted view which seemed to be caused by the glass being reflective not transparent. Probably not an issue given the crowd size, but might be if you get a decent cup draw. For glass to be the cause of a restricted view and that glass to be on an empty room is frankly silly. Other than that Aldershot is one of my favourite away days and your home fans create a decent atmosphere. Shame our results have been bad.
  5. In addition to the option of subscribing to Latics player the BBC might have live commentary with an Aldershot bias. Usually available online via their app/website.
  6. You need to create a new account for the website your old one won’t work and your password needs a special character. See more at https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2024/august/16/subscribe-to-latics-player-/ Its 50p a month more than iFollow (£4.99 v £4.49)
  7. Not sure it does. As Dolan’s crimes probably don’t meet the threshold for a felony. He was only given 8 months and did about 10 weeks. Much rather we signed a lad convicted of dangerous driving and driving without insurance as opposed to rape and causing death by dangerous driving.
  8. FWIW I looked at Fondops record against teams in the London commuter belt a few months and it's pretty decent. Having seen him bully Newport in League 2 I think he can play higher but selectively. He's our 3rd choice striker and he makes the first team for a lot of clubs in this division.
  9. The friendliness at some National League clubs can't be overstated, the staff at Wealdstone are in that category. Although why anyone drank in the local pubs is a bit of a mystery their social club is decent and probably cheaper too. That was my 3rd visit - helps it's a relatively local game for me. No complaints on any occasion. Although the soft drink options might have been limited before 2nd half started. Their chips were decent.
  10. Re Fondop - he perhaps isn't getting enough credit for the job he did in our box yesterday. It seemed like every dangerous set piece they had it was him winning the header and getting a good clearing header too. Given their #4 was a literal giant that was an area where they looked dangerous. Similarly Monthe did well in our final third, putting in a couple of dangerous crosses and linking up nicely. He's a clear upgrade on Hogan and I think both Raglan and Hobson have benefitted from playing in a back 3. Charsley and Hammond seemed capable of doing Gardner and Conlon's running, Jes and Ogle looked dangerous going forward but can see Kitching and/or Caprice playing against better opposition for their defensive nouse. We haven't made wholesale changes but we have made upgrades.
  11. They are but not every game. Wealdstone presumably being in Radio London and us in GMR aka Radio Bolton is probably an instance where the local radio is too big to pick up either team. Or can only pick up 1 non league game but have more than 1 team at our level. The Braintree "game" was available but seemed to miss about the first 10 minutes of each half. I expect Radio Bolton will pick up our games against Dale and Alty. The other games will depend on how many other teams are in the opposition catchment area. For example our games against York will be on, but both of our games against Fylde might not be. If Latics had got their act together and released the article about the website changes the week before they might have had a few more bob.
  12. Well he'd be the youngest to make an appearance at 91 clubs as he's the second youngest ever.
  13. At least Liversedge has the necessary registration to be a physio. Some clubs in the National League don't have a physio.
