  1. If he goes out on loan he won't have to take any drop in wages and gets to play. WinWin.
  2. I would have expected him to have been abit more proactive in terms oflooking for another club if to atleast go out on loan he's been out of favour for about a year now. I'm sure if he'd turned round to Mellon and said look help me get out on loan atleast then he'd already be out the door you'd expect a club lower down in this league or a top ove for the league below to want him. It's a different world but if my boss starts dropping strong hints they don't want me at my job I'm contacting everyone on LinkedIn for a new job and probably handing in my notice within 3 months. It's best for everyone (but mostly for him) that he moves on.
  3. Surprised we've gone into the market again but tbf we do need abit of pace upfront so it gives us another option. Anyway remember all those wise ones telling us in May we'd be watching the same team as last season and that we'd spent up all the money. Is Alex Reid taking the hint yet that he needs to leave.
  4. Take a look at the changes that PL teams make in the EFL and FA cups so no. Last night was a 1st team game for Oldham and a reserve team fixture for Stoke infront of 455 fans we should be concerned by that. We all know that the premier league elite want Bteam/reserves/U23s in the football league purely for their own benefit. If that happens then it will be clubs like us that lose out because it will make climbing the pyramid even harder than it is now. I don't give a shit that we are playing Man United in this tournament and I don't care if we lose. That's not how I want to feel when we play against Manchester United side I want us to kill them and I won't feel that. That makes me sad.
  5. The attendance was 427 last night even if they all paid full price of £5 a throw then I doubt that will have been enough to cover the costs of the game even throwing in the £10k that the PL will have given to fund it when you take into account the staff costs and the other overheads such as the floodlights. It won't have much if any impact on the playing budget.
  6. I've been in consultation of redundancy where you are given a choice of reapplying for your job or taking redundancy either way your job is going but you are given an option. It does appear that we along with other clubs had a choice whether to take part or not. What conversations went on between the 1st team management and the board when this idea was muted we don't know and it's not a conversation we as fans need to be privy too. However if Mellon did strongly oppose it enough then we will have likely pulled out as whichever way we look at it this is the 4th priority interms of the competitions that we are in.
  7. Not sure but the talk of the B team that was muted has died a death. Reserve team football has appeared to have deteriorated in the last 15 years or so. Alot has been done for the development of young players in that time and we are (as a country) producing technically better players, but the death of reserve team football hasn't been to the benefit of anyone. If this is the alternative it only appears to be to the benefit of premier league academies.
  8. I'd rather we join and actual reserve league not one where the competition rules dictate we have to play over 1/3 of the 1st 11 from the previous first team game in it.and that has a dedicated manager for it to coach and manage so that current 1st team manager and 1st team themselves get a night off to prepare for their far more important game at the weekend.
  9. Getting himself sent off in the Reserve cup so he doesn't have to play in this competition and keeps himself fresh for the league. Bright boy.
  10. Do people have other hobbies? I mean I've got work stuff to do tonight but even if I didnt I could probably think of atleast 10 other things to do besides go to this. I've nearly finished Succession and am looking for another box set/series to watch any suggestions?
  11. Think its fair to say that he doesnt want Willoughby or Nuttall but can't get them off the wage bill but to be fair both have been prepared to go out on loan the only 2 that are currently here from last season who he doesn't want but won't move are Norman and Reid both of whom could have gone out on loan if they wanted surely. Apart from that I think it's fair to say this is very much Micky Mellons team. It doesn't mean he's going to renew everyone's contract next summer and some of them who are good enough now won't help us make the next step but I think he has the players he wants here now.
  12. Yeah it's becoming abit tiring now. I rate James Norwood I rate Mike Fondop Micky Mellon has shown in his 12 months here that he has no problem weilding the axe on players he doesn't want so if James Norwood was a problem or a negative influence in the team he'd be either out the door already or sat with Alex Reid kicking his heels on a Saturday he's neither, he an integral part of team.
