  1. So I’m kinda in agreement with a few here. Like @oafcmetty I think that if he does well in a short spell he’s earned whatever he does next. As @AndyB2 says, this is the same old risk with taking players on loan, nothing new. But, like @deyres42 it does feel a bit odd that we’ve put all our eggs in one short-term basket.
  2. Yeah X is just getting more and more toxic and unpleasant and Melon Husk is influencing that with his conspiracy theory-level rants. It would be nice but unrealistic to expect the club to start posting to saner alternatives like Bluesky or Mastodon but they really need to sort out the website as a decent source of information. My particular bugbear is that with the recent site redesign they removed the RSS feed, which means you can’t follow club news with an RSS app. It also means they’ve dropped off news aggregator websites like NewsNow, which is shooting themselves in the foot as these drive traffic to the website. I emailed both the club and the design agency but didn’t get a reply from either (suspect it’s a template, a few clubs have done the same).
  3. Most of Hampshire does (my second team is Farnborough, about a mile north).
  4. “Hey, hey, you, you, get out of my crowd”?
  5. Agreed. He wasn’t under contract so unless Sheff U were so desperate that they offered us terms to beat off the competition I doubt we have any clauses, just the mechanical compensation rules.
  6. Doubt it’ll be much. At league level rules are predefined based on time with the club, appearances, etc. I think it maxes out in the mid-five figures. Not sure what rules apply in the National League but it won’t be any higher.
  7. International clearance is only required for players moving between associations, more or less: ”an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) is required for every player aged 10 years or over … who is not an English national, and is registering for a club in England for the first time, as well as any player who has played under another National Association (including the other Home Associations) The process of obtaining an ITC ensures that a player, when moving from a club in one National Association to a club in another, is under the jurisdiction and disciplinary powers of the new Association. It is a key element in the registration of a player and ensures that they are eligible to play for their new club, as well as acting as a check to ensure the player is not under contract with their previous club, or subject to any suspension.“
  8. Well obviously, but I was hoping for a bit more specifics. Thanks though.
  9. Why are we re-signing Dolan? What’s the gap he fills? Is this just squad depth, or is he starting for someone? Would genuinely appreciate insight here. I don’t remember him doing anything positive last time round, what are we gaining now?
  10. Plenty of ex-Latics youngsters have gone on to do absolutely nothing. More than the ones who have. For his own sake I’d like Sutton to be in the second list rather than the first, but I can’t see him displacing anyone at the moment.
  11. Yep, I was a Tarky doubter, never thought he had the pace (though I never slated him, just doubted his potential). Boy was I wrong about what he could achieve. It’s why I’m circumspect about jumping to criticise these days (that, and like many clubs’ fans, I’m not sure we always value the right attributes).
  12. Pure unfounded speculation, but I wonder if there was a move to sell Hudson, freeing up funds for Khan and perhaps Stones. If the latter is no longer available, and the former is too valuable (especially given Norman's drop in form) it may be out of reach unless we can shift somebody else from the wage bill.
