I think that that is a pretty good summation of the position we are in. Shez is not a good manager. The players play and have little direction. I wish we had any other manger in the league in charge.
therefore some would say you are a blinkered fool.
However you dont actually mean it, as we are a promotion challenging team, and half the managers in this league if put in charge would destroy this.
-
Hughes genuinely makes people laugh. He has a sort of 'cheeky' demeanour that will be missed if he does leave.
-
0-0 enough said
It was not a boring game, nor was it negative.
thats our first 0-0 of the season - it just wasnt our day, and if their keeper was 3 inches smaller we wouldve scored 10.
-
dont think we necesserarily ned to look abroad, dont see what that would bring that would bring, we not gonna to be able to aff for example a player from Seria A OR la liga SO WE MIGHT AS WELL LIGA RATeR THAN Rlooking to go other countries second divion we can look at player from he chsmpionship or league who will have more idea of wat is needed and those players are out there, taking jones as a god example as he would have been a great asset to us had hr=e stayed fit

We have to beat Crewe tomorrow, and we have to beat Carlisle. Huddersfield are on the up, and who I think are this year's slow-starter, so I'd be content with a point.
Failure to pick 7 points up, and even the over-optimistic bunch (basically, those who clap effortless performances just to avoid a dig from Sheridan) haven't a leg to stand on.
We can pick up as many points as we like against teams in the top 10, but if you can't beat those towards the bottom end of the league, we're finishing around 10th again.
....merry christmas?

I have a question about Liddell's pens. Isn't it illegal (for want of a better word) to run up, stop and then carry on running before taking the kick? That's what he seems to do.
only illegal if he stops. He stutters, or slows down, but never stops in his run up.

I'd like eardley to bag a hatrick to silence his doubters.
granted hed have to be played in midfield

Crossley has had a number of fitness issues while he's been here, makes sense to have a goalkeeper on the bench just incase. Fleming as far as I know doesn't have these problems.
Last season instead of having Bell in goal when Crossley was injured again Shez brought in O'Donnell on loan. Shez didn't rate Bell at the time then and it doesn't look like he does this season either.
From what I've seen of Bell this season and that's only the warmup at Peterborough and that goalkeeping coaching video in pre-season he doesn't look upto scratch and he's not very tall either. Unless he has the keeping ability of Gary Kelly I don't see him being that good.
Then why would we give him a prof contract
-
We dont HAVE to name a sub goalie, to be honest, it gives managers more lee-way with their options on the bench. You only have four players to name, one for each position and then one other. Not enough. At least using five subs, you can name two strikers, two midfielders and a defender. Or something similar.
but given that flemming could have easily been sent off in the last two games, having one onthe bench is surely a good idea?
-
But surely now, after shez giving him a professional contract, he is viewed as good enough to make that step up now.
-
fair doos, but when was the last time you saw bell play a significant part in a reserve match? I would have thought it would have been flemming making the appearances in the very few reserve matches this season. But if you are refering to last years matches, then a season is much more than enough time for a person to mature as a player, and be ready to make the stepup to the first team.
-
Oh and Josh Bell isn't very good. Cant see him or Ollerenshaw ever making it in to the first team.
is that a bit like when you said flemming was crap aswell?
When have you seen him play? - or is this info just from your ever reliable sources

There are many different ways in which leadership is displayed. It isnt always shouting and bawling, the technique used by our no. 1 leader at the club, but may be a few quiet words, or a pat on the back.
-
Hes played in two matches recently, and hasn't had a decent run in the team this season. So hasn't really had much of a chance to prove this.
-
he wasnt made captain for his leadership qualities....he was made captain to boost his transfer fee towards the end of last season, shez then decided to play him a few times in midfield as again his value would be worth more as a good defender/midfielder....
So sheridan had a word with the national side aswell then? He wasn't made captain of the u-21s to boost any status or transfer fee. He was made captain surely due to his leadership skills?
-
See you are already starting to change your mind, a couple of more posts on and you will quoting "good riddance, he's gash"
No. Not once in my original post did i state that he hasn't had a few off games. I am not one to change my opinion simply because a majority disagree.
He is clearly going to have a couple of bad moments, dictated by his age, however this hardly detracts from my opinion that he's a good player.
-
Of course if a silly offer comes in it would be stupid to reject it, but i feel people are only focusing on his few gash performances, than on the times he has saved/won us points. I think a few are also forgetting that hes one of the youngest members of our sqad, yet one of the most established in the international field.

Neal eardley has played 2 games since he has been out of the side for a lenghty period. He hardly set the world alight on saturday, but he was solid, and definately wasn't one of the worst performers. IMO he has a decent delivery (yes decent delivery) and is a very good defender. Hence why he is getting picked for his national side. He also has strong leadership qualities, although they clearly werent on show on saturday, as higlighted by his ability to captain Oldham and The u-21 Wales side. He has attracted much attention from clubs from higher divisions, and i can 100% garuantee that if his spooned free kick had gone in, we would all be praising his complete performance, not slagging him off.
-
Wouldn't be surprised. Is a great player IMO. He could definately cut it at that level, and if he goes, good luck to him.
-
Tbh - playing well or not, I still love going to a match.
We play badly, yes, i feel disapointed at the end, and its frustrating when we cant string two passes together, but I can't say I don't enjoy being at the match, because i love watching oldham.
-
I thought Byfield was clipped at the time, but you cant really tell from the highlights. I think the only reason it was given was because he stayed up.
As for theirs, I thought Greg got a hand on it. He took the ball first, rendering the fact that their forward fell over him insignificant. I feel for him, as hes had IMO two very bad desicions go against him these last two weeks.
-
I would at some point like to see stephens, as he looked really good pre season. Isn't he meant to be an attacking minded player

cheers rummy

FFS wot is this we hate Eardley campaign actually about ... im sick of arguing with people about it
He gives us so much coming forward as an option ... free kick okay was horrendus BUT wot about were u telling him not to shoot when he scored free kicks in the past or the two stunners at crewe ?? Some guy behind me had a go after he'd beat his man inside out in the box and the got to the byline and the cross was headed out but beat the 1st man ... he's a full back ffs and the quality of delivery from both right sided players today imo was very good ... Lomax is a better defender right now, but seeing him come forward about 1/10th of the times eardley does makes him a better option AND people complain about every one of Neil's misplaced passes, yet Lomax (good 5yd passer) fails for the 10th consecutive time to find a man upfield and there is no abuse
Get of the lads back and we might see the Neil Eardley that we know can perform
