  1. Get him fit, and then send him out on loan . . .
  2. ‏@Matt_Chambers_ On that statement, how it usually works is that those unhappy with a particular story make a call and talk through their differences. #oafc ‏@Matt_Chambers_ I'm still none the wiser as to what the issue is with the Mail story, not least what is "irresponsible" about it. #oafc ‏@Matt_Chambers_ To deal with it by issuing an emotive statement (the first three pars in particular) doesn't reflect well on the club. #oafc
  3. Part of the club statement says: "the Daily Mail online was not only incredibly inaccurate, it managed to upset all mentioned parties as well as doing a huge amount of damage to our club."
  4. A Brass Bank special. That could be interesting. https://twitter.com/MikeKeegan_DM/status/824728259967512576
  5. From the Official Site: "We would also like to point out that the two Chinese visitors are not Manchester United fans, as was also mentioned in the article, and were merely getting a guided tour of the facilities used by the players. They remain disappointed that they were falsely linked with the article (in the Mail Online) and have now returned to China." "If, and when, there ever comes a time that the club has either been sold or attracted investment, we will let the fans know in a timely and professional manner. In the meantime, we urge all supporters that read any articles not released in conjunction with the club, to read with a sense of caution." http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/club-statement-3539328.aspx
  6. Brighton and Hove Albion's young right-back Rob Hunt on the brink of loan move to Latics. http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/15049931.Albion_defender_set_for_loan_move_to_Oldham/?ref=twtrec Another right back?
  7. Matt Chambers ‏@Matt_Chambers_ 37 minutes agoMore Expecting a new signing for #oafc today, young player from a Championship club.
  8. For some reason this reminded me of the Manchester North End plan!! https://www.theguardian.com/football/1999/jan/09/newsstory.sport6
  9. As a ST holder of 25 years I fully support this initiative, and emailed the club as such. (I got a pleasant and prompt reply). Moreover, I was one of the ST holders who bought in advance last year. With the £150 refund my ST cost me £200, or £8.70 per match. With the free Posh game, this now equates to £9.09 a game. I know the football hasn't been great (so far) but I've still got a good deal.
  10. Thanks to Stevie_J for changing my username as requested. A small donation to the OWTB funds has been made. Keep up the good work.
  11. Robbie Simpson launches career website for players after 'scary' experience when he thought his playing days were over. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4138344/Footballer-Simpson-launches-career-website-scare.html
  12. Great initiative. Let's hope it is as successful as Celebration Sunday was in 2004 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/3468859.stm I can't imagine that the ground will be full, but would anyone like to guess what the gate may be?
  13. Will it be enough to pay the bills and therefore lift the embargo?
  14. For the younger readers, this is what former council leader (and Latics fan) John Battye said to The Chron in 2011. "The ill-fated Sports Park 2000 scheme would have been the ideal plan for the future of Oldham Athletic, according to Councillor John Battye. The former council leader was at the helm of the authority when the proposals for the new joint rugby and football stadium were given planning permission in 1999. They proposed relocating the football stadium onto Clayton Playing Fields, also a charitable trust; building conference, banqueting and motel facilities, and moving the public fields onto Boundary Park; building a new B&Q store on the Westwood athletics site and moving the track to The Radclyffe School. It would have been financed from land sales, grants, commercial sponsorship, and council tax payers were promised it would not cost them a penny." http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-features/8/news-headlines/52478/kicked-into-touch
  15. I started watching Latics in Division 4 in 1970. Now that was a good season to watch Latics as they were promoted, and had a pair of strikers - Jim Fryatt and David Shaw - who scored 50 goals between them. I'll probably renew.
  16. A number of Latics players are on short-term deals, either contracts or loans, which expire next month. On the basis that the club's transfer embargo will be lifted and that we need to bring in at least 2 or 3 new players, would you keep any, some or all of 6 players? No doubt the parent clubs of Burgess and Ladapo will also have their say.
  17. Danny Byrnes has left the club (21.12.16) by mutual consent.
  18. This ^ I presume he means 5x5 metres or yards, not 5x5 feet or inches!
  19. Can the mods not merge "The Chairman's Invitation" thread with this thread? OWTB often has too many threads on the same subject! Doesn't this also cost OWTB more money? http://www.owtb.co.uk/index.php/topic/49203-the-chairmans-invitation/
  20. Any response from yarddog73 or ChaddySmoker?
  21. Apart from oafcprozac, are the others going to take Corney up on his offer?
  22. That reminds me of my first season watching Latics - 1970 / 1971 - in the old Division 4, when they scored 88 league goals in the season! Jim Fryatt (24) and David Shaw (23) were the leading goal scorers. That's why I became a Latics fan. Doesn't seem like it!
