  1. "Reports of compensation being £150,000 are wide of the mark, with the Magpies understood to have paid under a six-figure sum for Sheridan's services."
  2. Today's Nottingham Post: "Notts County are expected to confirm John Sheridan as their new manager after thrashing out a compensation deal for the Oldham Athletic boss. According to sources in the north-west, the Magpies have agreed a deal with the Latics for the ex-Sheffield Wednesday star that will pave the way for his arrival at Meadow Lane. Oldham do not want to lose Sheridan, but the former Republic of Ireland midfielder is understood to be tempted by the challenge at Notts. And in a further boost, Sheridan will be able to strengthen the Magpies' squad, with the club understood to be confident they will be out of their transfer embargo next week." http://www.nottinghampost.com/Notts-County-thrash-compensation-deal-John/story-29321186-detail/story.html Sources in the North West??
  3. I've not seen anything on Sky Sports News. They usually have 'Sky sources understands'. Maybe Notts County are talking about Darren Sheridan!!
  4. If . . . With the odd exception, the club seems to take a long time in making a new appointment. This time they need to make a quick appointment, as we hardly have any players and pre-season training starts in just over a month!
  5. BBC Radio Nottingham's reporter Colin Slater - who has reported on Notts County for 48 years - believes Shez will be appointed in the next few days. He said Shez had a good working relationship with Jason Turner at Newport. Turner is now the CEO at County.
  6. It's also on the back page of today's Chron, but I'm presuming it's the same (one) source?
  7. BBC Nottingham Sport ‏@BBCRNS 4h4 hours ago BREAKING: #notts expected to appoint #oafc boss John Sheridan as their new manager in the next few days. Is this just about money? Why would Shez drop down a division, for a club that is further away from his home, and that he has no previous affinity with. His only link with the city is one appearance for Nottingham Forest in 1989! PS: Is Shez back from his holiday yet?
  8. "The Football League says the move would tackle fixture congestion and boost the finances of its members." I can understand the former, but the Football League need to explain the latter! Celtic and Rangers will probably have another attempt to enter the English league pyramid. My initial instinct is to say 'no', but let's see the details fleshed out.
  9. Shez's Leeds odds are drifting. He's now 4th favourite at 12/1. Robinson still odds on fav at 8/11. Steve Evans is 2nd fav at 3/1.
  10. I started watching Latics in 1970, but I wouldn't want the club reverting to a tangerine (or was it electric orange?) and blue kit. However, I'd still like to see the club return to the blue and white half shirts, which Latics wore on an off between 1910 and 1966. As palmer 1 states we play in blue and white and, for me, this season's kit does not have enough white in it. Templates of all kits can be found at http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Oldham_Athletic/Oldham_Athletic.htm An interesting comment on Oldham's page about the 1960's: "the distinctive blue and white shirts were dropped in favour of a garish orange and blue outfit."
  11. The club must have some input. I presume they can state, for example, that this year we want blue shirts, blue shorts and white socks? The manufacturer would then use one of their templates to match our 'general' request. Anyone know how the process works?
  12. We have this discussion every year! It's like Groundhog Day
  13. REMINDER Barry Owen and Tony Philliskirk will appear on BBC Radio Manchester this evening (Monday, May 16), from 6pm to 7pm. If you have a question for either of the two, please tweet @bbcmancsports. http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/reminder-barry-owen-tony-philliskirk-to-appear-on-bbc-radio-manchester-tonight-3114742.aspx
  14. For what it's worth, Karl Robinson is the new favourite for the Leeds job at 8/11. Shez down to 6/4 second favourite. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/leeds/manager-on-1st-day-of-next-season
  15. Croft has been offered a month contract for each pound he loses in weight. He's hoping for a 2 year contract.

  17. I nearly spilt my mug of tea this morning, whilst listening to Radio Manchester, when I heard that Shez was on a four-man shortlist for . . . . .
  18. As of 10.40pm Brown 6/4 Rosler 2/1 Shez 2/1 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/bolton/next-permanent-manager
