  9. I'm sure GMP would say they needed to provide more police, and the club should provide more stewards, if Latics don't accept their 'advice'. Interesting tweet, needs re-tweeting and also tweeting to others!! The OS article states "GMP have advised the club that in light of instances of public disorder against Liverpool, both inside and outside the ground and the pitch incursion at the end of the game." It's advice, not an instruction. How much 'public disorder' was there, as I didn't see any walking past the main stand and up Sheepfoot Lane after the match? A pitch incursion? Yes, including people hugging, taking pictures, and crying! However, GMP don't understand Latics' history over the last few years. I would: Give Everton the small section of the RRE, and block the first 300 or so seats in the larger section - which has been done before; OR Give Everton the whole of the Chaddy End and keep them in the ground for 10 to 15 minutes at the end of the match; OR Leave things as they are, stick another quid on the ticket prices if GMP increase their charges, and tell them to f*** ***

  11. My ex-boss is a Liverpool fan, and there is a small group of house trained 'pool fans from Yorkshire (don't ask!) coming to the match on Sunday. They are looking for a real ale pub near BP to have a few halves of bitter before the game. Any suggestions?
  12. From Latics' website (about the football club or Oldham Athletic (2004) AFC Ltd.) Declaration under Regulation 94.1 of The Football League Limited. Shareholders holding 10% or more of the shares is issue are: Simon Corney holds 97% of share capital. http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/club/boardroom/ Blitz (and Gazal) of course still own the ground / land.
  13. The following is taken from an article in The Independent in March 2004: " . . Blitz and Gazal paid £120,000 for Oldham's office equipment and other assets." & "They are paying £4.6m more for the ground and land." As the players are not classed as tangible assets this suggests that the club (minus the land) was worth only £120,000. SC now owns 97%, which he got from Blitz and Gazal. I wonder how much he paid for their shares? When you state a 'ridiculous' asking price, do you mean for the club or the club and ground/land? PS: Great article in The Chron by the way.
  14. Excellent post and the type of discussion we should be having on this forum. I agree with most of your post, but I would still put a timeline on PD's tenure, and that to me is the end of the season. In the meantime I hope we can turn things around in the last third of the season, as I don't fancy another end of the season like 2004/5 (?) when we had to win our last game of the season to guarantee staying up. Now that was nerve racking!
  15. Some years ago we had a 'vote' on the away strip. I seem to remember one option being tangerine and white? Not sure whether it had a broad stripe down the front of the shirt? I also liked the white and red half shirts we had a number of years ago. Can't remember exactly when? Keep them coming, as they'll probably be better than what we end up with!
  16. Given that the board made their move a couple of weeks ago, by effectively sacking PD's backroom staff, we're probably stuck with PD until the end of the season. However, all bets are off during the summer! The board/PD need to bring in the 'experienced' assistant manager sooner rather than later, for their 'plan' to have a chance of working. Why the delay? We need a definitive 'yes' or 'no' from Derbyshire, and if it's a 'no' then we need another striker before the transfer window closes in a week and a half. If we could ship out a couple of the youngsters on loan, we may then have some funds to bring in another midfielder. Wes is also back on Tuesday. Maybe, just maybe, but then I'm a glass half full type!
  17. ‏@Matt_chambers_ Told there isn't much danger of Coventry game being called off. Under soil heating plus surrounds of Ricoh gritted for days already #oafc
