The loss today is only a small part of the problem, they can happen in pre-season. The issue is that he doesn't seem to have any kind of plan, where is the pace and fast, attacking football? He said before he started he was a huge believer in 3 at the back, in most of the friendlies has played 4-2-3-1 and today switched to 4-3-3, quite confusing for the players I'd imagine. The worst of his problems so far has obviously been at the back, he's had Gunning all pre-season and still hasn't made a decision. We don't seem to have been linked with anybody and bringing a couple of sub-par trialists in so late suggest he's panicking a bit. Also, what was the point in bringing Hiwat in on trial if he didn't bother bringing him on today?

Poleon, Green, Turner, Murphy and Philiskirk all on the bench today. We really need to lose an attacker or two to strengthen at the back.

Sure looked that way when he sprinted past several players and slotted in to the bottom corner after 85 minutes at Scunthorpe.

Think we'd be better off easing him in to things with no pre-season. Hopefully he can play 20-30 mins tomorrow.

You almost wonder if Kelly has been trusted with signing any of his own players? Hence the preference to get trialists in and look at them first. As said, Croft, Green and Dunn look like board signings, that only leaves Cassidy and we don't actually know for sure he was a Kelly signing.

I'd dismissed them myself until Radio Manchester, Mike Keegan and Matt Chambers all insinuated something was going on.

These rumours have been around since the start of pre-season and clearly have some substance. So what exactly are the club playing at? Are they just embarrassed to admit they've made a mistake and want to get rid already? Bringing a player in to the club that they seemingly already want to replace Kelly is shocking.

Think he'll have more than enough left to run the show at this level. If he's not replacing Kelly and they play in the same midfield, I'm more than a bit excited.

That is probably the oddest list I've seen. For me our almost guaranteed starters are: Mills, Wilson, Kelly, Jones, Winchester and Forte.

Just don't see where Philiskirk fits in now. I'd have Winchester or Green behind the striker and I don't see him getting a look in upfront ahead of Cassidy, Turner, Forte or Murphy. I wonder if he's somebody we could look to ship out.

Forte played up front. I'd imagine he'll want Croft on the right when fit, you could then move Winchester behind the front two.

Neither did our last two managers. He fits our criteria, young and holds a pro-license. You'd also imagine he has more connections in the game.

I didn't go last night, but I think the 4-4-2 was a diamond. Kelly at the bottom, Jones and Winchester on either side and Green at the top.
