  1. I consoled myself last night watching the end of my 90/91 season video (yes I still have a video recorder) to watch the little :censored: Wilson, trying to delay the taking of the penalty, getting booked before Redders slotted it home.

Got me thinking, that penalty put them down to third, they got automatic promotion because the number of teams in the first division was being increased and 4 went up. The Wendies would have played a bang on form Notts County and may well have struggled in the play offs.

In the first year of the play offs we were never out of the top 3 all season (I think) finished third, which would normally have been automatic promotion but we lost out on away goals to Leeds who finished about ninety points behind us.

Add in the semi final defeats to QPR and Cesspool, the play offs have done nothing for us

  2. I've not seen it replayed, but I think he got Simpson's yellow card wrong.

    Should have been a red.

Where were you sat O4U? I was in the main stand in line with it and it looked a fair 50 50 challenge to me. The linesman right next to it didn't flag for a foul. We see on tv that different angles show incidents in different lights. However the pull back on Obita was UNMISSABLE from any angle and he didn't book him. I am convinced that if those 2 incidents had been reversed we would still have had a Latics player in the book. Bent :censored:!

  3. Just asking as I may have missed that one, they all seem to have been at it. As for Elton he deserved a f*****g, full stop.

Fred Talbot, no idea whatsoever if there was any truth in it, he is currently under investigation for child sex abuse, very unsavoury.

  4. It didn't affect George Best (sometimes).

In the olden days I actually remember one Latics player having a blinder after a few lunchtime drinks before an afternoon match.

I seem to remember Vic Halom on a Kick Off Christmas special talking about playing under the influence one boxing day when the players were convinced the game would be postponed. Good old Gerald Sinstadt (apologies to our younger members)

  5. They look after their own, it would it would probably be a good report.

The way the commentators talk the refs live in fear of the assessors. The Bradford goalie last week for example, common sense would say a yellow card and leave him on the pitch, but the ref can't do that because we are told he would be marked down.

  6. So you honestly think that all the extra fans were oldham fans? They must all have Saturday jobs and work the odd Tuesday night I guess.

You are now changing your argument. There were certainly fans of other clubs there, Liverpool and Everton in our sections for a start. As I have said in another post I regularly bring Manure and Citeh fans on an extra kid's ST. However I haven't seen any of them singing vigorously for Latics , which was your point originally, or does sitting quietly now constitute create atmosphere?

    Oh a drum

    Me like drum

Drum help me sing and do clap clap

    Oooh you don't like drum

You no like sing and clap clap

    You miserable bastard

You must move to: A) Another stand B ) a library C) a Manchester club.

  7. Ok I'm sorry for not being factual. They were supporters of other teams and not just city and united. I really don't understand why people moan about having a drum at a match. If you don't like it there are plenty of other seats about. Or bring your Radio so you can drown out any kind of support for the team.

Which games are you talking about where, in the absence of the mighty drum, a brilliant atmosphere was enhanced by the supporters of other clubs? I've been to every home game bar boxing day and it has passed me by.

  8. No one near me seem to be enthusiastic about supporting the team and I can hear my own voice as we sang. Not the loudest near me by far. There was periods in the ground there wasn't much noise at all. The loudest has got to be Everton at home. Just my honest opinion.

Where you the one with his balaclava on back to front?

  9. Just back home. Brew then bed. Glad the atmosphere came across on the box. Bloke with his top off near us in LV section was feeling no pain. Wouldn't like his head in the morning.

Michael Oliver odious little pre pubescent :censored:, and that's just what my ten year old thought. Need everything to go your way in these games. We played against 12 tonight.
