  1. Which worries me, as I think Poe was by far the most boring character (even if they make him gay!)

Poe Dameron isn't in Rogue One.

I liked Poe, however I'm probably not the best person discuss criticisms in the SW universe as I'm :censored:ing all over it. Rogue One will be a big test though along with the Boba Fett/Solo standalones.

  2.

You really think our little stand does that ?

I realise it is a small part of the security process - without it there would be nothing. Let's be realistic; what has the club got and what can it do with it - It's got 3500 fans and a brand new stand - both have to be utilised to their maximum potential. So roll your sleeves up and get thinking.

Blackpool have a lot more, and when they steady the ship - hopefully their resources will be used more wisely than they have been in the past.

  3. What you point at here is just how :censored:ed the "sport" is as a whole....

Afraid so, however I did mention that it looks from the outside that OAFC have taken some financial precautions to be away from football money bubble, and completely independent from a rich benefactor. This is a good thing.

We can't blame Chairmen like Simon Corney for taking the financial steps to stabilise their clubs against the possibility of a Stockport or a Blackpool from happening to them.

  4. I don't know how the club works financially, although I would hazard a guess that Simon Corney is running his business quite well. It's one thing to have success after success on the pitch however the fact is that the clamour for promotion, championships, silverware and what-have-you comes at a cost. For every Fylde or Bournemouth story there is a Bolton or a Blackpool one. In OAFC's instance - Corney can only provide a team that fits those who wish to see it.

Unless you have a rich Russian oligarch that is selling enough gas and oil to prop up a team, you can forget reoccurring, frequent success. I'd say Oldham Athletic are ahead of the curve for clubs of their size; they have acted quickly to embed this structure of potential local investment along side small financial gains in competitions now-and-again. The fact is, OAFC cannot sustain heavy personal investments without the collapse later.

  5. Don't fear the reaper. BBL IV is here.

    Rules.

    1. Each player must pick ten celebrities who they think are due a visit from the Grim Reaper. You can shuffle your pack as much as you want up to the start of the game then these picks are final. Once they are submitted after that time, that's it - no points are accrued before the start. Each member can choose a CAPTAIN, captaincy doubles POINTS! Only one captain per team, per year.

    2. Scoring is 100 - AGE = POINTS. Clearly those over 100 score minus.

    3. BONUS POINTS GAME! Introducing the Spartacus Sweepstakes. Each player selects a date in 2016, nearest predicted date to Kirk Douglas' exit wins 25 bonus points! The bonus is triggered when Kirk snuffs it in this separate game - you do not have to select him in your team - however if you do, you collect the team points as well.

    4. No kids/minors. It's sick, but not that sick.

    5. Game time runs from 00:00 Jan 1st 2016 to 23.59 Dec 31st 2016. GMT.

    666. All death dates are taken from Wikipedia

    7. Each member has one team list post on this thread so we can all see the edit time stamps.

Off you pop. So to speak.

Anyone joining after 00:00 can play, but their scores will not be entered or recognised in BBL IV. It's not fair on those who have locked in teams.

This thread will be locked at 00:00 Jan 1st 2016.

'Football culture is dying in Leipzig – Union is alive. Das Produkt Leipzig embody everything that we at Union don’t want from football. A marketing product pushed by financial interests, players with euro signs in their eyes, supported by brainwashed consumers in the stands who have never heard anything of fan ownership.

  7. Not that I aware of to both questions....but I will ask at our next meeting.

No worries, I was just wondering if you were planning to go to the North West Fundraising meeting evening at Broadhurst Park in February- it's free to members and affiliates, and £10 per ticket for non-members. I'm wiling to donate tickets for two Oldham Trust delegates to go if you're not members. I think this is an opportunity you guys need to take up.

  8. The game as a whole is dependant on philanthropy, glory hunters and asset strippers. Without these people football would be stuffed.

As a whole, you are right - football wouldn't be stuffed though - no matter what happens, fans make the game. Without us football would be stuffed.

    Stop using agents.

    Outlaw the use of sole-benefactors.

Stop using prize money for part of the wage budget.

Give the power of negotiation with TV to the club themselves, not the FA.

  9.

Quote from MU fan after tonight - Now can you imagine what he would say if they were playing Latics !!!

Absolutely nothing to be honest, Red Issue has about 3 pages on the FAC 3rd of which hardly any are about Sheff Utd, all sandwiched between quality topics like Whoppers that will frequent the New NQ Madchester bar and Wanking in your sisters shoes.

    I kid you not.
