    If principles meant anything to them they could always pull out of the cup.

     

    The position of entering the competition and raise objections about certain aspects of the competition as it arose was democratically agreed. The membership - rightly or wrongly - voted on entering the competition in 2007 either knowing that situations like this would arise or it would never arise because 'it'll be over by Christmas' - now that it has arisen the membership will have to decide what to do .

     

    As it stands now there are several options being discussed, leaving the competition is one of the considerations under review.

    So putting it on TV would be a good thing gives them the money to help fund their stadium and everyone who wants to see the game sees it.

     

    Well, yes if that's what Chesterfield want to do - it's got to be a mutual agreement. Can't deny their payday. However there are ways to improve the situation - keep the ticket price to the minimum allowed, help fans from Chesterfield get there. and make sure every effort is made that the fans get the tickets and sponsors.

    As has been said they are cash rich for their level..

     

    Need some evidence of that mate.

     

    Believe me, there is still a need to fund the ground and the £67,000 plus TV fee or whatever it is would put a huge dent in it. Incidentally, there is some speculation from Spireites that the 10-15% tickets given to away fans in a segregated Broadhurst Park, may well be swallowed up by corporates and sponsors. At the moment the situation is that the game must be as accessible as possible to the fans that want to go - if it means trying to make sure fans get the tickets and not the sponsors, or some of the money gained from the tie goes towards bussing Chesterfield fans on a Monday night for free to help them get there, then that's what needs to be done.

     

    Nobody is denying it's a precarious situation to be in, or that difficult decisions have to be made - however there are lots of discussions going on between the membership and board for the best solution.

    That makes sense. I was a bit puzzled by their ant-TV stance as they'd already been televised on a Friday night against Rochdale a few years back.

     

    ESPN aproached Rochdale to move the fixture to a date for TV. Rochdale said it was fine under the previso that ESPN must check with FCUM - who would in turn ask its membership. The terms were agreed on the condition that Rochdale lowered their prices for the local fans. The conditions for this game, it's viewing on TV and kick off time was that the fans convenience was put ahead of the money. A game against say, Luton Town or Carlisle moved to suit the TV companies would not be convenient for the paying through-the-turnstile supporter, and therefore the answer would be a no in these circumstances.

    The bbc wanted to show fc uniteds game in the previous round, but fc united refused due to the altered KO time.

     

    The Emirates FA Cup – 3rd Rd Qualifying

    The idea

    In short, we’re going to start the BBC’s live FA Cup coverage earlier than ever this season, and in a way never attempted before.

    Mobile Match of the Day Live will be a first for a major broadcaster in Europe – delivering the fans’ eye view and experience of a football match using mobile phones only, from filming at the game, through streaming direct to the audience’s mobile via the BBC Sport website.

    Presented by Radio 1Extra’s Nick Bright and Amplify Dot we’ll take fans behind the scenes of a match, enable them to saviour the matchday experience in the crowd and tell the stories of the super fans, subs on the bench and the dedicated staff at the clubs – all while attempting to capture the best of the action on the pitch.

    We’ll support the broadcast with a live page on the front page of the BBC Sport website, where we are likely to reach a UK audience of around 8m users across the day, as well as using the Match of the Day and BBC Sport social media accounts, where we have a combined audience of more than 10m.

    The live page will begin just before kick-off through to full time and include audience debate and discussion, before becoming a live scores service for the Fourth Qualifying Round matches on Saturday, October 24.

     

    Pilot: Enfield v Hitchin on Saturday, October 10, 3pm.

     

    Broadcast: Saturday, October 24, with a 12pm kick-off – meaning a game will need to be brought forward. Hopefully, we will be able to feature either Enfield or Hitchin again of they have been involved in the pilot. A fee of £500.00 per club will be applicable if the kick-off time has to be moved from 3.00pm. This fee will not be negotiable.

     

    What do we need?

    In short, as much access as possible. Our ambition is to take the audience into the heart of the fans’ experience as well as, hopefully, giving them an insight into parts of the game normally out of bounds such as speaking to subs as they warm-up, the managers during each half, perhaps the half-time teamtalk? Here’s a list, which I thought would be easier…

    · Access-all-areas permission to broadcast from

    o Anywhere within the ground where fans can access such as stands, concourses during the game

    o The tunnel and changing rooms at half-time

    o The dugouts roughly halfway through each half

    o The pitch at half-time – to potentially chat to the groundsman

    · Access to people

    o As above around area access

    o Potentially a long-serving “character” from each club

    o Could we speak to substitutes as they warm up?

    o Would we be able to speak to club staff (food kiosk workers etc, stewards?)

     

    How we’ll do it

    Using the latest mobile technology we’ll have an iPhone with a rucksack containing extra battery power and a signal booster – that’s it. In addition to the two presenters we’ll have a phone operator, a producer and, I’d imagine, two BBC-employed stewards to help ensure everything goes smoothly around the broadcast..

    Most likely the charger, if you coil the lead up tight when not in use it can sometimes cause a cable split internally shorting across live and neutral or to earth.

    The problem with the trip switches though is that sometimes they are too sensitive, get the old fuse box back and stick a n ail in instead of 5A fuse wire (just joking for anyone trying to do this)

     

    I've seen a screwdriver jammed in there once on a rewire. God knows how the house didn't burn down.
