  1. Highlights should be on Latics youtube channel, tomorrow. I'd guess anyway!
  2. What was that? You should have said... We're not far away from a turn around, according to twitter, LJ knows what striker he wants to replace Rooney so now it seems we just need to get him. No names really batted around so far, apart from Gregory, but i doubt he'd be a good enough signing at this stage. In LJ we trust.
  3. That's the sort of short-term vision that has somewhat hindered the club for the past 10+ years. Yes, it's 1 win in 9... Bad run of form. But better football and loses have been 1-0/2-0, there are positives. I think if we can see this season out and retain our League 1 status, we might see more growth and go further up the table next season. Personally, whilst I think we'll stay up this season, I don't expect us to be challenging for the play-off's until the season after next (minimum). These things take time, although, I think we'll finish more comfortably next season, rather than another relegation dog fight, again.
  4. It can. Manager and chairman share a common long-term vision, which so-far has been satisfied in the eyes of Simon Corney and some fans (including myself) Long-Termism is highly important now and the continued support of the youth system by LJ has been visible since he came in last season. This commitment to bringing through new talent which ultimately pay dividends when/if a group of talented players come through and some move on for a decent fee. Allowing more money to be pumped into the side. Providing that Simon has done his sums correctly. The New Stand will go a long way in financing the club and making us nearly, if not actually, self-sufficient and able to run the day-to-day business of the club from the profits made on the stand. Of course, that doesn't take into account the 6 million to build it. If the club is able to run off the facilities accommodated in the New Stand then some of the money made through player sales or that has previously been disappearing down the black hole. Of course, i'm pinning this on what Corney has said and a very basic knowledge of financing and economics. The contract makes complete sense to me.
  5. I think for a lot or the majority of Latics fans are brought into it through family. Both sides of my family are predominantly Latics, with a few United and City thrown in. Unfortunately for us, football has changed and with those two on the doorstep, we will never be able to compete and can only dream of having 10,000 in Boundary Park (for a normal game) nevermind the 45,000 or 78,000 that our Manchester neighbours get.
  6. Went on the Old Trafford stadium tour today. Have to say it, yes Old Trafford is a brilliant stadium and no doubt Manchester United are probably one of, if not, the biggest team in the world. However, you can't beat Boundary Park. Some of us will never change.
  7. Calvin Zola to come from the bench too. Mental.
  8. Matt Chambers ‏@Matt_Chambers_3m Understand that Adam Rooney is in talks with Aberdeen over a permanent transfer from #oafc MENOAFC ‏@MENOAFC4m I understand Adam Rooney is currently in talks with Aberdeen. #oafc

  10. Pawel Abbott, Oldham's number 9! Who couldn't love Pav!
  11. Liddell. Never missed a penalty at professional level, IIRC.
  12. Not when he has to get in bed with Farage to form a government... Green Party 2015. ... Carry on as you were guys... Johnson In!
  13. A politican is a politician. They all deliver the same :censored:e, wearing a different colour ribbon.
  14. He'll end up dwelling in the conference for another 6 months. They'll be all the usual speculation of a big team signing him. The he'll sign for Burton Albion. Poor Man's Dan Gardner...
  15. Shame we always piss about with it around the box rather than getting it in. One of the most frustrating things at games, along with no-one moving for a good pass, meaning the ball goes backwards. We need someone with half a brain to just take a shot on from time to time, inside and outside the box. If you don't have a go, it will never happen.
  16. Do Oldham have the financial capability to take such risks? You'd like to think we'd have a go. But I don't think Corney will. He took the risk on Smith and for 18 months, what a mistake that was. They even nearly paid up his contract. Only post Liverpool did he become anything of use for our squad. I trust Paul Murray's judgement personally.
  17. Just seen the highlights. :censored:e defending on the goal. Should have been marked up, but failing that Mellor should have cleared it off the line. Silly challenge from Dayton for the penalty. Absolutely brilliant save from Oxley.
  18. Tell Philliskirk it's the JPT every game and he'll start smashing them in again.
  19. We need a striker. What we've needed for the past 4 seasons.
  20. I think it will get better. In fact, I think we're not that far away, just a couple more players (in and out) to freshen it up and we should be able to push on. However, I have also been thinking about the similarities of the last 4/5 seasons - maybe that's a worrying correlation. I think we'll be okay though.
  21. It's not a fact that we're :censored: though. I'm not pretending about anything. In my opinion there is genuinely something there to be excited about, something that gives me the impression that we will stay up and push on next season. Like i've said and you've said, it needs time and we also need a striker. We're all in this together, as the balding :censored: in number 10 says.
  22. Yeah, I know it's far from ideal. Some of the football has been there in parts. However, the lack of end product and the run of draws and 1-0 losses is very frustrating. You must agree that there is something there, our style of play is encouraging, most of the time. We are one or two players away from producing results, in my opinion. People need to stick with it, give the team and Johnson time. Changing a large majority of the playing squad or the manager after 10 months isn't an option for me, nor will Simon Corney be thinking it either. Good to hear that you're still in the "Johnson In" camp JW.
