  1. so is every manager at their press conference this morning going to be asked their views? God help us http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30742947
  2. That's how I read it. Backed us (or at least didn't oppose) initially and then thought better of it. Surprising really as Ashley never struck me as someone who might worry about public opinion.
  3. The poor sod is desperately trying to retrieve his letter of resignation from his current employer as we speak...
  4. Dan RoanVerified account‏@danroan Oldham chairman Neil Joy has not quit
  5. David Conn ‏@david_conn 50s50 seconds ago Ched Evans: Police say they called Oldham Athletic & sponsors and were told no threats been made; a couple of "low level abuse on Twitter."
  6. Guardian saying 'deal set to be called off' not been ratified by Corney who is in New York .Don't get the flags out yet...... it's like the okey cokey.
  7. From BBC Greater Manchester's chief constable Sir Peter Fahy said his force would be launching an investigation into threats to the club's staff and their families. "It is totally unacceptable," Sir Peter told BBC Radio 5 live. "We will be contacting Oldham Athletic to make sure that it's investigated." So is the implication there that the club haven't reported it to the police?
  8. from the Mirror Latest from the Press Association here - talks over the potential signing of Ched Evans have concluded for the day. "Talks on convicted rapist Ched Evans signing for Oldham have concluded for the day without a decision being taken on his future. "The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) and the club had begun drawing up a joint statement but several issues remain to be settled and discussions will continue on Wednesday. "The League One club confirmed on Monday that they are considering taking the controversial step of offering Evans a route back into professional football and it is believed Oldham are seeking further assurances from the PFA and other authorities."
  9. This is like work. You think 'at least it can't get any worse' and then it does.
  10. Agreed (since November 14th 1970). Whether/ when I will be going to watch them again in the future isn't as easy to answer.
  11. I had correspondence with the club last year about hiring the venue, when it's built, for exhibitions. My organisation holds about six a year and currently uses football grounds including Bolton. My intention was to move the Bolton one to BP and nobody would have batted an eyelid. If i suggest this now I will be laughed out of the room as it would jar so much with our image. We normally pay around £3000 in total for each day. Currently venues are finding it hard to attract custom, so much so that deals are available and costs are not rising, e.g. one club is giving us 2 rooms for the price of one if we book in advance. It's not a good time to be alienating potential customers and I'm sure it would not only be my organisation that felt this way.
  12. Three loanees gone back http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/loans-return-to-parent-clubs-2183169.aspx and Brown officially returned, with what some might say was unfortunate/impeccable timing. http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/connor-brown-returns-from-loan-2184002.aspx
  13. Listening to Radio 4 on the way to work and heard Dr Emily Ryall senior lecturer in philosophy at the University of Gloucestershire discussing this very issue. Good grief and I thought we were a football club. In fairness she made a couple of points I agreed with, I just want to be listening to my club on the sports programmes not the news.. 1. As for as the board is concerned this is not about morals just Latics trying to get a good player on the cheap. 2. Footballers / sportsmen shouldn't be singled out as role models, why are they any different to any other entertainers e.g. actors, singers. Anybody wanting to listen should be on here shortly http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04wtwfl at about 7.40.
  14. Couldn't budge the weather off the front page of the Express though could we?
  15. Radio5 reporting Daily Mail saying it's down to Ashley. However they might just have got that off here.
