  1. Would be superb if we signed Schlupp on loan but sounds like Sheff Utd first in queue. Hope PD's persuasive qualities can come up trumps because this lad is quality. 6 goals from 9 appearances for Brentford last season; pacey, strong, good running at defences with the ball and an eye for goal.

Would fall into category of 'impressive signing' that has been touted around.

  2. Official site says 2600 sold so far compared with 2300 last season with 1000 being the kid tickets.

How many adult tickets were sold last year; was it less than 1600?

Revenues down but more bums on seats excluding pay on the day so refreshment and programme sales could fill the gap.

More reliance on product on the pitch though and I hope this entices more through the gates because this initiative deserves to pay off!

  3. I still think Dickov is the manager to deliver success to our club and we have our best chance with him at the helm.

He's building a squad under limited resources that contains quality players at our level and he genuinely wants to play attractive and effective football.

He has also shown a bond with fans and is first to get involved with off-field activities to increase our profile.

He's a likeable chap and I reckon he can emulate another striker who turned up at the end of their playing career to begin their managerial career with us.

  4. For those living a distance away could someone post a pic of the new away shirt that they purchased?

Don't really trust marketing shots and keen to see the true colour, design etc.

This isn't some weird fetish but keen to see being worn as we're not all the physique of Tarky either and the large on the home kit has the shape of a bin bag (and it's not my shape by the way!)

  5. I was certainly jealous last week when they had the celebratory bus parade last week.

I also went to the Odeon next door to the last week and I can't understand why we can't do similar on the BP site. Surely without a cinema in Oldham we could attract companies to redevelop the area to include a cinema, pubs and restaurants to create a leisure island with our stadium part of this?!

  6. A thing of beauty and just emphasises our current plight.

All the talk of stadium moves or redevelopment and nothing coming to fruition. If it happened and we were able to convince local and national businesses to aid funding through advertising, conferencing and taking over trade sites such as food outlets, hotels and possibly a cinema then it would present that shot in the arm the footballing side needs.

  7. Taylor now gone and no sign of anyone coming in to replace him or the rest of the departures.

Yes it's early days but PD's position end of season was sort out those offered contracts and secure the new signings.

Other teams are re-signing their players they offered new contracts to but not at Boundary Park. Doesn't bode too well regarding the terms offered or commitment from those players. I'll accept the suggestion were yet to open talks although I doubt that's true.

Club expected a late push of fans buying STs at reduced prices this weekend. If there's no news on new or old faces coming in then expect a tumbleweed or two rolling down the Lane outside the ticket office.

  8. Good luck Chris, thanks for the memories!

Millwall is a very odd choice though.

I'm guessing the other clubs who were interested had second thoughts or didn't want to offer himthe kind of deal he was expecting. No disrespect to Millwall but there were strong rumours of Huddersfield being linked who were crying out for a left winger but haven't signed him.

Edit - forgot to say good luck to the lad. Served us well regardless of what people think of his impact last season and I'll always respect and welcome him as a fellow OAFC fan

  9. "LATICS RELEASE NINE PLAYERS Posted on: Mon 07 May 2012

They are Ryan Brooke, Djeny Bembo-Leta, Matt Carr, Keanu Marsh-Brown, Phil McGrath, Josh Parker, Reuben Reid, Paul Black and Zander Diamond

Dickov has told a further nine out-of-contract players he would like them to stay, though no new deals have been made. They are likely to be done later this week. The players Dickov wants to keep are Kieran Lee, Robbie Simpson, Bradley Diallo, Yousseff M'Changama, James Wesolowski, Dean Bouzanis, Kirk Millar, Filipe Morais and Chris Taylor.

He says they will be given between 10/14 days to decide whether to accept after which they will be withdrawn."

So there you have it 14 days from the end of the week commencing 7th May was last Friday the 25th May. What they need is to publish an update tomorrow so the hoards of supporters who are ready and waiting to pounce on the season ticket offer on Saturday will have some good news and a Spring in their step. We could have a poll to see how many of the nine we will keep - my guess is 4.

Exactly my point. PD implied they'll be no pissing around with players stringing us along. They either want to sign or they don't. This means talks between club and player at start of May to sort out a contract. Let them go off means they talk to other clubs. We should have nailed down those we want back then. Yes a player wants to consider their options but if the deal is fair then do we really want players who want to play for us as a club rather than us giving them the best deal??!!

Grow some balls and get players who will run through walks for this club and not just for a pay packet!

  10. That's what PD gave those offered contracts to make a decision.

I'm sure it was confirmed on the official site but can't be arsed to look for it.

It's been well over 3 now hasn't it and we know that Lee has gone, Taylor's on his way out and possibly Morais too. Wes apparently signing according to the Chron earlier this week but what of the others?

Also didn't PD state that he wanted to get new additions sorted ASAP and as early on pre-season as possible. With others snapping up new players around us then it's this indicative of what we have to offer and even PD's powers of persuasion will ultimately mean we're shopping in Lidl rather than Asda as we've been priced out of Tesco, Sainsburys and Waitrose.

Roll on some news on t'official site regarding transfers in or out or even simply an update on contract negotiations - have they been offered (as the Chron intimated that some haven't even been offered terms) and have they been accepted or rejected?!

  11. Oh, forgot to add that there was a strong rumour over here today that Grayson will be signing Taylor. Grayson's a fan of Taylor and once the news about Millwall came out, Grayson asked Taylor to hold fire until this week when Huddersfield will offer him a two-year deal but in Championship rather than League One. There's interest from Leeds too but they're offering just the one year same as Millwall.

Crossing paths with Taylor could be Roberts coming t'other way across the hill but the stumbling block is wage demands even though Huddersfield are offering him reduced terms.

  12. I've been working in Huddersfield today and not far from the Galpharm. They've had an open top bus parade around the town.

OK, they went up via the Play-Offs whilst coming 4th in the league but damn I was envious.

I've been an Oldham fan now for 25 years and 15 of those years in this league. I'd rather be at this level then out of business or non-league but it's about time lady luck shone on us. I'm sure we've been at this level the longest than any other League One club but a number of seasons.
