    Burnley are reasonably local, although we have had a couple of duds from them over the years and their academy isn’t exactly a breeding ground of top talent.

    No doubt unpopular, but I think the ‘1 2 3 4 listen to the …’ chant is rubbish and it makes me cringe a little at times. everyone else seems to enjoy it though.

    Looks like Diarra has popped up at French third tier side Borgo. Didn’t seem that Monaco were interested in taking him back after his stint with us….

    As I said ‘under different circumstances’ ie him being sold rather than released. At one point he was one of the best young players in the country. I’m sure there were offers.

    We also had one for Tarkowski and Micah Richards which would have been a nice return under different circumstances. The point is that, when clubs raid for our young players based on potential, where we inevitably feel they’ve got them on the cheap, we need to ensure we have a sell on fee in there to maximise our returns.

    Last night I felt you could see players who knew they had to fight for a starting spot; Rooney, Abraham, Tollitt, Yarney. It’s a good sign and if we’re arguing about players who should have started after a 2-0 home victory then that’s obvious signs of progress and that we’ve assembled a competitive (if overly large) squad.
