  1. Its always good to stick two fingers up to a plastic manc. All the better to see what they could have then :censored:em off the next time
  2. Really dont understand the situation i thought rushton went bust a few years back so how can a bankrupt club seek debts owed?
  3. I actually thought they had already gone bust with there talk of coventry taking over their ground.
  4. Yeah cos its actually a good place to watch footie. Not after you comin from the opposite side of oldham just if ya in shaw
  5. Also any other time i would go to the game i travel up and down the country watching us but ive not seen us on tele since we played bardiff years ago (cos im usually there) taking the chance to see what the pundits have to say and the pre match build up
  6. Ha anyone who knows me on here knows i aint a landlord i drink too much for that. I dont even go in there that often only to watch football. Usually go in shay wake. But utd plastic landlords really grate on me
  7. Latics play preston on monday night on sky and the landlord at tara leisure in shaw has been taking the piss something rotten making out we couldnt fill a broom cupboard never mind a pub. He has jokingly stuck a reserved sticker on the best seat in the house for us "because we will be unindated and they will be queing out the door" All i ask is if you are in the shaw area on monday and considering watchin it in the pub come to tara and blow the house down. Lets show these plastic mancs how proper football is played. Got two massive screens plus 3 smaller tvs as well.
  8. I actually thought the club had made a coup that year the way certain signings got bigged up. Since then i have learnt never to go off what the club tells us about an unknown player.
  9. Its not just about him backing managers though is it. My point was this time last year the club was seemingly being left to rot from fhe bottom upwards. And i mean every area of the club not just playing staff which for some reason this thread is being turned into. Cutbacks were being made and you could see us becoming a league 2 club sooner rather than later. Both in our playkng staff and off the field operation. Now we are looking the other way and while we are someway off being anything near a championship club we are making great strides. I have heard great things in the pipeline for the new stand and if it continues we will be a happy fanbase.
  10. While a big part of my point was the investment in the playing staff it is more than that. The ground looks much better than last year (while far from perfect) and generally the whole approach of the club has improved.
  11. Last year around this time i made a post on hear asking simon corney to put up or shut up. Some agreed with me some didnt. But it lead to great debate as to what he brought to the club. I felt we were at a stage where there was a total lack of investment in key areas on and off the pitch and the club was being left to stagnate with little concern being shown from the top. I basically requested simon either invests in the club to bring us to a level appropriate for this league or actively put the club up for sale. A year on i believe simon has truely outdone himself. Since the appointment of lee johnson corney has backed him to the hilt. We have never seen a squad with so much depth and that has been supported off the field with a real push in the marketing of the club commercially. Not every decision will be successful but i think the way in which simon has gone about things has been great and im the first one to congratulate him on this. Thank you simon here is hoping your imput will be rewarded soon
  12. Preston in my opinion have the best possible manager on paper. Yet have only one win in 5. Im pretty sure their fans aint calling for his head or making pretty stupid posts on the forums. Carlisle have shipped ridiculous amounts of goals while coventry are i dire straights off the field. If we were in either of their situations id be worried and moaning. We aint. So im enjoying my football as every other fan on this forum should be.
  13. Jonson clarke harris Hes gunna take the piss He'll shoot and he'll take the piss Jonson clarke harris
  14. I see latics and baxter in a similar light to bale and spurs. Yes thry are losing their best player. Easily the greatest player they have had in ten years maybe more but with the players they are able to bring in using both the transfer fee and freed up wages i would bet anyone spurs will finish top four this year. Not saying latics will finish top six but i expect a drastically improved season even with the loss of a great player. I would rather have 4 good players who fit ljs style than one exceptional llayer who doesnt quite know what his best position in the team is
  15. Ffs we are top half playing entertaining football and have the largest squad i remember in a while cheer up. As you say in your edited quote we need to lose the mentality. But do you not think we need to lose the mentality of expecting every manager to fail? I couldnt give a damn what lj does as long as we are performing in terms of league position and on the pitch. Correct me if im wrong but dont we have a 50% win rate in johnsons time here? That would see us finish in the play offs or more depending how many draws you throw in. Cheer up and enjoy the positivity
  16. While promotion is unlikely i do feel its gone from being a ludicrous pipe dream last season to being an outside possibility IF we do well with injuries and suspensions and IF we continue to play football the right way and IF we keep johnson and IF we dont lose key players before the window shuts and in january. It is possible but still unlikely at this stage.
  17. He would have known for much longer than those on here a sale was likely. Baxter will have been making noises all summer of his intentions. So to plan for life withot him you have to give credit for.
  18. Far from getting carried away pete but i really do think he could play for the likes of palace hull and cardiff (or equivilant in subsequent seasons) in the premiership. We have had many a player go on to play premier league football why not jose? Clint hill, fitz hall, marc tierney, neal eardley, why not jose?
  19. Id put money on him playing premiership footy at some point soon. If wilbraham can play top flight football anyone can
  20. In a his suited formation he is irreplacable but imo this season he doesnt suit the way we play. Simple really
  21. A unique legend not particularly for what he did on the pitch (although outstanding) but for the way he stuck with us through the thinnest of thins in the depths of winter last year. No doubt we will see him on motd sometime in the near future
  22. Firstly i would like to say jose is probably one of -if not the best player in his role in this league. Irreplacable for a club like us But... Personally i reckon our team is much more balanced playing a 4-4-2 and i dont believe you can play smith and baxter in the same team comfortably. With the players at our disposal i would rather see a rooney jch partnership up top than playing with a loan striker with baxter behind. Baxter is a huge loss to anyone at this level but i reckon we have prepared for this all summer and am still confident of a good season without him. I would go as far to say as i wouldnt even look at replacing him with a player in the same mould. If we were built to play a 4-2-3-1 id be really worried now but we aint. Good luck to him he did us wonders last year and we wouldnt have stayed up without him but im not overly concerned about his departure.
  23. Surely says more about the future of millar than baxter? For me baxter is competing for a slot with the midfield rather than the strikers. Bringing in another striker makes millar effectively sixth choice. Surely see him go out on loan now
