  1. March FRI 29 Swindon April MON 1 Colchester SAT 6 Carlisle TUE 9 Preston SAT 13 Bury TUE 16 Yeovil SAT 20 Crawley SAT 27 Leyton O That is already a very compact fixture list, and getting the Shrews game in there, there is realistically only Tues 23 April in between the Crawley and Leyton games. this effectively means 2 games a week until the end of the season. with our well publicised unfit squad to contend with, this could be a real problem the only other option i can see is getting the game on this monday, and i recon all at the club should be striving for this. tuesday will prob be pushing it with playing friday as well, but is still a better option than playing Tues-SAT for 4 consecutive weeks imo. we need to be playing while the iron is hot
  2. would people take having a player less if we brought in a fitness conditioner/sports scientist who produced results? personally i think i would. i know lee is capable of doing all the same stuff as a specialist would be but time constraints make it impossible realistically. having a fit team in the last 20 mins of games could be worth 5 or 10 points over the course of the season, and if we had been sharp and 100%fit this year all year, we wouldnt be in the predicament we are now imo. so effectively, would you take this years squad being match fit for 90 mins, without (pure example) weslowski, or Simpson
  3. what is it with this recently? seems like some perfectly good threads are getting locked for no apparent reason, or is just me?
  4. TBH I do think he has a point, although he is still a knob. he will surely get more help off his dad if they are not in direct competition with each other. that said, its very rare players would consider playing for both oldham, and yeovil purely geographically ( and yes i do realise we have strangely had a large number over the last 10 years do just that)
  5. Johhny grounds, A Smoggie is he Adopted in Oldham Forever He be
  6. Hes Big - He's Fat He'll skin ya like a cat Lee Croffft - Lee Crofft
  7. Thank Christ I dont pay a sky subscription for that :censored:e
  8. anyone notice they are still using our old badge?
  9. quite disappointed in the crowd tonight given we had a new gaffer, but if we keep the mentality going we should see a few trickle back. mind the 3500 who saw the debacle against bournemouth wouldnt have been impressed and alot voted with there feet regardless
  10. I wouldnt need one, If I was that good I could demand a better contract elsewhere, Id just take an equal high earner clause. and if i was mediocre id be happy to take the average wage.
  11. Ive always said his style of play would suit a premiership team very well. not as first choice, but an option to change the game from the bench. however, even in his mold smith isnt good enough. Like Smith, just better Ive put that in bold before anyone lambasts me for saying Smith is good enough to play premiership football with more quality, a player like smith could do very well as a premiership squad player
  12. personally if i was a footballer, i would be wanting to stay at a club for most if not all of my career. as long as the contract was acceptable, i would much rather stay in the same surroundings than constantly hunt the big bucks, yet having to continually move around the country, uprooting family, or having an hour plus commute to work every day. from the footballing side as well, i would rather be a big fish in a small pond, and a long time servant of a single club, than a journeyman, who nobody remembers five years after i retire. i would rather be a ryan giggs or a steven gerrard, than an anelka, or michael owen ( in truth id slit my wrists if i was any of them, but you get my drift)
  13. Has TP's Bubble already burst? i didnt go today, but from what ive heard we were appauling, and everyone seems certain we are going down. (not a dig at TP, a serious question) is TP the man to take us to the end of the season?
  14. if it does drop to that the covers wont handle it
  15. tbh i dont see why top flight clubs dont have a player like smith in there team (im not saying smith specifically) top flight clubs are notorious for not being able to handle big guys, and thats why crouch was so successful with england. it gives a different option from the bench. it wont win you titles, but it would definately be a game changer every now and then.
  16. thats why whenever somebody asks me if im a football fan, i say no - im an oldham fan. top flight, european and international football just doesnt do it for me, unless its england in a world cup finals or european championship. i dont even watch the qualifiers
  17. got to disagree there, i agree it hit his arm, but at point blank range, and his arm was already there before the real player headed it, definite ball to hand. correct decision for me. as for the sending off, its a tough one. personally i dont think its a sending off. he didnt know the man was there and is looking at the ball. although i do agree its a foul, and a yellow card. from the angle the ref is at i can see why he has sent him off, he has asked the ref a question, but if it was a latics player shown the red id be pissed off
  18. i know its in a shocking state, but this just highlights how little the club is spending on ground maintenance. disregarding the demolition of the lookers, wasnt the new roof on the main stand one of the last major ground alterations (extended to cover the paddock when the seats went in)
  19. can see a new gaffer before tranmere tbh, the way TP has talked in variousnews outlets over the last week
  20. gotta dissagree there sorry. the main stand is a dump, a relic which died many moons ago. i do agree identikit stadiums are awful, but there is no reason we cant have the rocky as it is, the new stand as its designed, a 2 tier chaddy and a unique mainstand. pure examples i know, but all 4 stands would be both modern, and unique. (please disregard the teams, and think of the stadia only) as an example in premier league terms, i would rather have old trafford (bits added on over the years, and all sides of the stadium unique) than the emirates (identikit) or goodison (relic). in terms of our league, there arnt any real great examples backing my point, but id rather have 4 unique, modern stands than colchester (identikit) or boundary park (relic)
  21. disregarding whether or not its realistic (i dont think it will happen) i would definately take a scholes/butt partnership, with TP taking an advisory roll. dont think there would be a better appointment for having contacts, they would add numbers on the gate overnight, they have already been involved in coaching at OT, why not? scholes, butt and TP as a management team sits well with me. but it wont happen
  22. personally find it strange the new stand will not incorporate all the traditional main stand stuff, like directors and changing rooms etc. if we ever did decide to pull the main stand down, they would be living out of cardboard boxes until the new mainstand was built. we simply couldnt have coped for the last 5 years if the lookers had held the ticket office/boardroom/changing facilities/corperate etc. if its pulled down a new one must go up straight away
