  1. seriously thought it would be more than that. although i suppose you could chuck another 100,000 at it from ticket sales from the fifth round at least. still, if those figures are correct i guessing the transfer and wage kitties wouldnt be seeing anything in the summer
  2. personally we should be looking for a cash injection this summer, its desperately needed. im living in hope the reason he signed is he has been told major investment will happen in summer, we will build a team around him and go for promotion. if it doesnt succeed then he can go next summer. but it wont happen and he will go as we all know already
  3. the difference between now and years gone by though is that even the most staunch fans amongst us seem resigned to relegation, so i agree its a valid point of discussion. its like everyone has lost all fight. strange really when we are still 4 points clear in january
  4. Just say we were to win on sunday, and draw another big prem team in the fifth round. how much money would that be likely to earn us in total off the fa cup this year? surely it would be well over the million mark? even without beating liverpool we must still have some cash in the bank. add to that potential earnings from the likely sale of baxter we could potentially have some serious dough by summer. how much money would it take to mount a serious push for promotion from the bottom division next season? running costs for the club are around the million mark if im correct, so surely 500,000 or so is by far and away a good enough budget to get out of that league next year, if the worst did come to the worst? i actually have no clue on football finances so i really am clueless, someone help me out here
  5. You know your in the :censored: when someone puts up an "if we go down" thread and the happy clappers rationally debate it rather than calling him a negative mug. incidentally, do happy clappers exist anymore?
  6. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2266019/Oldham-Athletic-given-pitch-boost-fight-big-freeze.html its just a generic article from the press association. it also appears in the liverpool echo, and the express
  7. some see relegation as a chance to start afresh. this is what talbot thought when he said it would have been better had we gone down. its a chance to break the never ending cycle of crapness. take swindon as an example. or norwich/city/southampton from the league above. personally think it wouldnt happen in latics case, and we are more likely to end up like stockport
  8. When you look at all of these teams people suggesting, it makes you realise we have had some :censored:e recently. the odd good player up top, and in goal, but if brown/furman/montano/morais etc are getting in them we really have been poor over the last three years. personally, only Baxter/cisak/boozy/stephens/lee would get anywhere near sheridan or dowies teams. if you had to choose the best 11 since 2003 very few of dickovs men would even make the subs bench
  9. please - not the sash one! any team that plays in a sash wants shooting. might as well get them troop dancing in the warm up!!
  10. thats a 16 year period. meaning these things must happen in 16 year cycles. Maybe we can look forward to an exciting next 16 years then. roll on next season!!
  11. well the football league show described it as "coventry had the upper hand for the majority of the game, against a very poor oldham side. justice was done when they scored the winner in the 95th minute of injury time". if neutrals are describing it like that im guessing we wernt very good. for me we will forever be :censored: until we get investment in, but i do agree dickovs time is up. replacing a very bad manager with a distinctly mediocre one has got to be better than sticking with a very bad manager. while we are on the subject of replacing dickov, both odriscoll and hill started new jobs today, so both are out of the question. whose the no.1 target now then?
  12. course he has, its clear the "we are latics sign above the club shop has been photoshopped
  13. free bacon butties? do you expect them to give away free merchandise as well?
  14. obviously at this present moment in time we couldnt do without the youth set up, but with planning, and diverting funds the first team squad would be much larger, and we would have a greater budget. the forty or so (guessed at figures) players currently in the youth set up and reserve teams would translate into ten or so players ready for first team football. so you would be able to provide an 18 man squad, with 4 or five in reserve to cover injuries etc. perfectly workable imo
  15. you can fully understand reasoning behind calls to scrap the youth system. if these players are the best we have got from the future crop there is little point in continuing with it. all of them are heading straight for non league and have no future in league football in my opinion. i have never seen a latics team so powder puff in all my time watching them. i have said all season our midfield is the weakest point of the team, but compared to yesterday wes and furman are premier class. winchester, Hughes, Millar, just not good enough, and never likely to be anywhere near. i would also go as far to say changy aint good enough either. we are crying out for a hard as nails central player, who can dominate midfield. they dont even need to be the greatest of footballers, just someone to scare the :censored: out of the opposition.
  16. lol tracy there aint any designated games this year, like seasons gone by. you can use them for any game. i did check myself before i handed them over that they were both usable for both brentford tickets and for liverpool priority vouchers cos i had doubts myself but she said it wasnt a problem. but as someone else has said they will probably change it tommoro now they know its a sort of loophole
  17. Ive just bought 2 tickets gor the brentford game using ffa5er. These tickets are the voucher and you will not get an additional one on the gate. I also bought 3 scouse tickets. She let me buy an additional one cos i didnt wanna sit on my own. If you dont ask . .
  18. thats what im hoping to do. going down to the ticket office around 2 so ill update after that if nobody has in the meantime
  19. I always think any comment like this from a chairman is a pointless and stupid one. the only people who will listen and take note are the ones already attending, who will be pissed off by the chairman saying they are not supporting their club, when in fact they have paid 300+ each for a st, or regular attendance. those who it is actually refers to, those who have stopped going will show little indifference to the comments, and it will if anything drive them away further
  20. sky bet have now shut the book, mark robins odds had dropped from 10-1, down to 1-4 favourite. guess they have their new gaffer
  21. presumably. think he is managing in non league somewhere
  22. thats a very good question, one i never thought of. the answer has gotta be yes surely. although i wouldnt say they will change personnel for the game, they will probably use a full strength side, but mentally, players may not be fully focused. i think we can take advantage here and take all tree points, using the forrest game as a catalyst. as for the extra numbers, i cant see it adding that many. all those who chose to go away but not home games will probably turn up for this one, but those who have lapsed and not been all season probably wont bother. they will just take there chances in the free for all.
