  1. i wouldnt say anyone came out of that game sparkling. mvoto deserved man of the match for his last ditch block in the second half, and looked solid, but i wouldnt be shouting anyones praises after that
  2. so, a win against donny in the league, and 3 points, or a win against donny in the cup, guaranteeing us a ball in the third round? which do you choose? obviously we would all want both, but if you could have only one, i would have to say the league. we are far from comfortable this year and need all the points we can get, and until we draw another liverpool, my position would remain the same. however, if you could guarantee a trip to old trafford or the council house etc id have to say the cup game.
  3. ive had this debate before. would we have gone on to be one of the big teams etc. would we be in the position we are now? my answer is yes we would have probably gone on to win the league at some point, being one of the best teams in the country at the time, but i dont think our current position would be much different. bury/blackpool/preston/burnley were all major players at some point but all good things come to an end
  4. have a listen to the bbc post match comments. its kevin "id love it if we beat them" keegan-esque
  5. the only time i would even consider it is if their result effected latics directly, and latics wernt playing. ie we needed hartlepool to win to guarantee survival.
  6. Tell ya what thats an idea. If it guaranteed we got the 3 for the season id take it
  7. realistically if every fan did every one of those measures (which will never happen) would it have a significant impact? I highly doubt it would fund the three wages we need. if there has ever been a time for pumping money into the club it is now. where are the arabs when ya need them! in all honesty we need a large amount of income pretty sharpish to get these three sewn up for the season, and no matter how much good intentions the working class fanbase have, we cannot fund it (unless we suddenly find 4000 fans from nowhere, again it wont happen)
  8. is there anything we can do to get round this wage thing?
  9. Furman starts for me. on another note, regarding the possible sale of furman in jan, how many teams will be put off by the fact he is possibly away for an extended period? personally cant see furman leaving us for a long time yet, but thats just me
  10. Its only when you see the replay you realise just how good a cross that was from baxter. for all the media to describe it as "hopeful" is disrespectful to say the least
  11. problem is tho, to sell a keeper for a decent sum they usually have to be playing regularly. so at the mo, bouzanis doesnt have the games under his belt to command a fee, while cisak does, but aint going to be in the shop window on the bench. in other words, neither are leaving for a fee anytime soon. on a side note, it says a lot for gerrards pedigree as a coach
  12. You will never top the scunthorpe goal when they had 2 sent off courtesy of Taylor. that game was like the alamo for 45 minutes. Think it was McDonald who scored
  13. dont the scottish, irish and welsh club teams have to qualify to gain the right to play in the group stages of the champions league? for me this is exactly the same. not saying its right or wrong, but you cant have it both ways. looking at it from san morino's point of view, i think the comment made about monaco playing in a domestic league is valid. they would attract a better quality of player, attract a bigger fanbase in San Moreno and actually have a chance of winning a game. although if they as a nation wish to stay international, they should have that right
  14. there have been a few silly ones this year. coventry allowed to play in home kit against tranmere was a massive clash, and i cant for the lif4e of me understand notts county being made to play in orange and black at our place. alot of it is purely down to legislation. a team must play in a kit a minimum number of times if they release it for open sale. comes after utd (i think) released a kit a few years ago and only played in it once pre season. we had to get special permission for the pink one for this reason, and actually had to make it known its the only time we would ever play in it
  15. thats some serious statto :censored: right there. the team specific pages are quite standard stuff, but the general league one attack/defence pages i found quite interesting
  16. we have been the longest serving football league club for a few years now i believe, since darlington and rochdale parted company with league2. when you take into account top flight teams cannot get promoted i would consider us the longest serving full stop, not that its anything to be proud of. personally i cant see any positives, only negatives in the fact fans get bored of seeing the same teams over and over, so attendences dwindle
  17. is there anyone willing to do a detailed summary? everything i have seen has been generally positive, but ive seen nobody go into details. would be appreciated
  18. is there anyone there tonight who is able to do a bit of running commentary on here via a smart phone? i had it penned in my diary to attend tonight but ive since broken my collarbone
  19. what changes were made in match preperation, and what got said between the coventry and crewe game to bring about the vast change in performance.
  20. its back up now, must have just been a temp glitch
  21. anyone else having problems accessing this site? its just bringing me to a domain adviser screen
  22. usually i would plump for croft, he was everywhere and had some really good link up play going on with various players, but the fact wabara had such a good game, even when out of position wins it for him
  23. i was at the hospital main entrance just after the game and at around quarter past 5 some 200 (approx, couldnt really tell) preston fans were given a police escort up towards oldham
  24. what we have is working i agree, but does mchangama offer the same grit and steel that furman does? i have my doubts. that said i dont think there is a perfect answer
  25. so we are without furman for the trip to sheff utd next week. how do we deal with that? straight swap with mchangama straight swap with simpson use simpson but push him forward to suit his more natural roll? winchester? employ a more defensive minded player to cope with utds supposed quality? there are many options open to dickov but what would you do?
