  1. i do agree about lee, but lomax is good enough there for me.
  2. you have to remember just how many of our squad are youngsters allessandra fleming smalley stevens lee black The united striker who i cant remember his name and cant be bothered looking it up wolfy (ok, he aint young, but i certainly dont expect him to be challenging for a starting spot) thats just off the top of my head. none of these players can really expect to be playing week in week out. granted, one or two will be, but they arnt the sort of players who will throw a wobbler if they are out of the team. wouldnt surprise me to see some of them going out on loan til january. smalley and allessandra would certainly do a job in league two, as would stephens as we have seen at bury, while black, wolfy and the united striker will be in the reserves all season. we might have a 26 man squad on paper, but it isnt a squad which consists solely of first teamers, so i foresee no problem with team morale
  3. TAYLOR HAS TO START THE SEASON ON THE RIGHT!!!!! we got more crosses in the last 15 minutes off him than i saw for most of last season. those who say he is better on the left are havin a giraffe. He wants to play there, he is better there, so dont let Andy Liddell stand in his way
  4. The way I understand it, we are looking to bring in a left winger (Phillips) as well as a central midfielder. None of the plaers we have brought in this year, imo will be on mega bucks, and sso we can afford to have a much bigger squad than is expected. I very much doubt any of our signings are on more than a grand a week
  5. Not going to happen. just guessed the figures, but you will get the idea Cost to erect it : 30 grand (probably more) cost per ticket : 25 quid (only five pound more than a standard ticket) guestimate of capacity in boxes : 100 100 (people) x £5 (profit from tickets) = £500 (total profit per match) £30,000 (cost of erecting it) / 500 (total profit per match) = 60 (games it would take to simply break even) It would take close to three full seasons to break even on this, and concidering we are aiming to have the stand up within that time frame, i dont concider this an option. nice idea though
  6. i heard about that wayne, i presumed he had picked it up from the M.E.N. Cheers for that anyway mate. Getting loads of publicity for this now, i just hope it generates a few more sponsors for us.
  7. i get one goal scorer, and three clean sheets if we do, plus the possability of assists. good times!!
  8. one of the main reasons i hate mk mongs. worst time in my life.
  9. is this over yet? was expecting a victory tonight, but im quite pleased with the 3-0 score line. not bad for the first game back with a variety of new players in there. not getting excited yet tho. i never read too much into preseason
  10. i have actually, i lived in milton keynes for a time.
  11. i have never foregone anything though. when i was sixteen i worked none stop through the summer and got some savings together and have had these since. what i did say is IF i did want something and couldnt afford it i would save for it rather than put myself into debt. you have to admit some people make really bad choices. ok, i dont drive around in a brand new car, and am not bothered about spending £100 on a shirt to go out in town in. But my car gets me from A-B, and I dont walk about looking like a tramp, My lifestyle hasnt suffered because im a serial moneysaver. some might call me tight, but so be it. I just dont like spending money I dont have to. be it in interest, or keeping up with the jones'
  12. but i have saved all the interest. I havent forgone anything anyway. i have enough savings to buy what i want when i want.
  13. you have read me wrong, or rather i didnt make myself clear. i would consider loss of a job, reduction in overtime etc as something i sympathise with, but what i do not sympothise with is those who have spent money on credit cards etc simply because they wanted to by a new sofa, or new car and had to have it there and then. ive always believed you should live within your means, and save up for everything i buy. (obviously i wont buy a house for cash, Ill get a mortgage, but this will be the only purchase i ever make on credit). In the past I have bought a car, high spec laptop and recently, flights to aus for cash. if i couldnt afford them, i wouldnt have them. simple as.
  14. all those people who dont turn up shouldnt have got themselves in debt then should they. Obviously there are the low paid, unemployed, etc who cant afford it, and i sympothise with them, but i certainly dont with those struggling to pay off debts who have overspent in the last ten years on credit cards and hire purchase. ill be enjoying my trips away next year, even if it does cost that little bit extra
  15. Latics is classed as an all seater stadium, and to change the status you have to apply for it, which would probably cost thousands, as these things usually do for some reason. if the new stand is getting underway at christmas, as is perceived, there is not much point. its the same reason the terraces either side of the paddock on the main stand side are never used.
  16. havent planned the route road by road, just town to town. which ever way looks the quickest on the map i will be walking through. if that is through glossop then yes.
  17. isnt it possible to get into the european cup by winning the fa cup? meaning we could be crowned champs in as little as 2 years?
  18. Oldham are nailbitingly awaiting the final of the ladies international between Legs waxing FC and Brushing furiously Athletic on sky, which pundits shockingly predict famine today. Although Mary had a shock period during half-time nothing dropped from the bottle because she held nothing inside. Uninterested in crowd lusting perverts exposé in seat, she hesitated, goldfish awkwardly wriggling beneath Nemo. Subconsciously longing mummy's fingers inside Pharoah's pyjamas, Mary jogged back towards Egypt via Edna's chippy, sweating rather profusely, fantasising about footballing pundits wearing filthy soiled sheepskin underwear. Mary reached Bethlehem, eventually riding side-saddle touching her halo with a jewelled inflated bottle of incense, Myrrh juice. However, Joseph chiselled away while his friend Jesus rode
  19. Believe it or not there was a snippet in the sun today. all of four lines, but it was still in. obviously picked up from the M.E.N artical.
  20. Ask yourself this. If we have a relatively good season with injuries, how likely is he to play a decent number of games? He certainly isnt going to get in as a striker, with Hughes, Davies, Ogrady and Lewis all above him in the pecking order. I would also say Liddell and possably Taylor (depending if he is switched or not) is above him there. therefore, 200,000 for someone who will warm the bench every week is a very good bit of business imo. you have to be realistic when pricing players. £500,000 for Dean is not realistic imo
