  1. Thompson has been very poor in most of his games for us this season, and if i remember rightly didnt he score an own goal in pre season? but!!!!!!!! I, like all fans should do, am willing to give him a clean slate. as Inspiral says, he hasnt been fully fit in his time with usnd now is his time to shine. We have signed a new lad at centre back ya know. Thmpson I think he is called. Forest and Tranmere think he is a quality player. roll on sat!!
  2. not the only club that do this, correct me if im wrong but (last season anyway) yeovil and forest were the same. cant see why as they have to pay more staff anyway
  3. fair enough rigo, you have answered my questions very well there, and it explains why you are renting (although it does, as you say seem very strange from the council). Did DRFC never contemplate building their own stadium? as has been said, if you sell out 75% of all your games in the first season you get promoted, there isnt very much scope for development there. Let me explain. Latics are redeveloping up to a 16000 capacity or there abouts, easily enough for our current status, and probably enough to take us to top level championship, but if (and this is highly, highly unlikely) we ever got to the premiership and were having sell out crowds every week, the RRE was designed to enable a second tier if necessary. are there plans as such at the Keepmoat?
  4. Empire Built on Sand maybe? or does it not really matter because the money bags owner will swallow the rent hike? question im wondering though is why Doncaster Rovers need to rent a stadium anyway, having such a wealthy chairman?
  5. there is one big flaw in that tho. all the big clubs would have to do is ban sky from showing them on TV, and then sky subscriptions would dramatically fall, leading to sky going grovelling back to them, with even more money probably, widening the gap
  6. i see where you are coming from but i doubt it would work. colchester filled there ground week in week out in our league (not hard with a six thousand gate or lower) so they would be very unlikely to drop prices. there are other teams as well, but i cant be bothered thinking. football is a strange world, you cant really complare. but i do agree something needs sorting. however it is the clubs themselves that need to act
  7. mock all you want, this is how it was done up until last year. And I very much doubt all the players will be rushing to go on holiday as soon as the final whistle on the season is blown.
  8. Tbh im a little dissappointed the awards dinner is on a wednesday night again. how many fans want to go to this type of event, and then have to get up for work the next morning? ill probably will still go, but it would be better on a friday night post season
  9. The standard of player you wish to give game time is that of smalley, allessandra, lomax etc, but they are already in the team due to injury (yes they have proven there worth, but they wouldnt have got their chance in the first place) Bell and Black would be no where near the first team if we had a fully fit squad.
  10. i like your optimism, but there is the small matter of the donny game on monday, and millwall is no walkover
  11. and if we dont make the play offs? not saying i think we should be planning for next season at this stage, but i wouldnt go out and splash the cash on yet another loan signing. tbh they have in the large part been gash this year, and one more isnt going to pull us out of the mire. if we are to make the playoffs, it should be with the current crop we have.
  12. Have to say they are good results if we are seriously still looking at the playoffs (only shez and a select 11 can answer that one) shame to say tho, looks like going up as champions has gone now
  13. Alan, Keep the faith is a motto every single tic should live by. it is a way of life, imo cannot be said enough. Everton have their mints, Stoke have their Delilah, we have our Keep the faith. Its just the way it is. I wouldnt say Cult, I'd say culture
  14. For Me, Smalley, Alessandra and Lomax cannot be included, as they have not played a full season. Same with Davies, He might have scored x number of goals by christmas, but it looks like he wont play again this year. A Player of the season should go to someone who has played a high percentage of games throughout the year, and out of our whole squad, only Taylor and Eardley come into this bracket when talking about the youngsters. out of these two i would say Eardley has been the brighter of the two, his distribution needs work but this is partly due to the lack of a right winger. Eardley for me. Next year will be interesting between Lewis, Dean and Kelvin.
  15. Where Shez has gone wrong imo is relying to much on youth and old pro's. i agree a good blend of youth and experience is essential for success, but experience doesnt have to be 30+. Allott and McDonald are experienced. Hazell is experienced. Stam is experienced. what do these players have that Our 30+ players dont? the ability to stay fit for long periods of the season, meaning we can have a far more settled team. if you were to replace Liddell, Gregan, Hughes and Crossley (not that i am saying any of these players are at fault for our position, this is not a matter i wish to discuss in this thread) with players in the 24-30 age bracket, im sure the team would have far less injuries, leading to a more settled team, and in turn more consistancy. Everyone loves having big name players at the club, like Gregan, Liddell and Hughes, but between them, i would be very surprised if they have completed 46 games/a full season
  16. hey!!!! less of that. im not on face book so i aint seen a pic of him, but i get the feeling i should take that as an insult!!!!!! cheeky get!!!!!
  17. The most straight lined post ive ever seen on here, and got to say it makes sense. too many of the moaners believe we should be better than we are, we have no given right it has to be earnt and by god, i think we have set the ball rolling this year
  18. Was he though? Granted He was very good in his first stint here, and probably saved us from the drop that year, along with Croft, but what has he done since? imo int this years stint, he didnt stamp his authority on the game like we know he can and imo wasnt half the player he was first time round. In all honesty i reckon he is an above average player for this level, but not outstanding. I would take him back with open arms, but i wouldnt break tha bank for him.
  19. Correct me if im wrong, but didnt the petition have an "expiry date"? is it possible this has passed and they simply comment when it expires?
  20. secondly, murray is only 32. any one think he would be worth a punt? could be the creative flair we are missing in midfield? or ya rec he is too old now? didnt he have a bad knee injury? seems to have played a few this year
  21. bloody hell, he has only been there two month. just shows the standard of their squad tho if danny hall is playin there
  22. well wayne, im shocked. no more freebies for beardy!! shame really ya did a good job.
