Blue-Mist
Thought he was top player for Northampton yesterday. Used to really like him as LB when he was at Tics a few years ago and gutted and disapointed when we moved him on - strong, skillful, wins most in the air, fantastic left foot and long throw. Class act and no surprise their goal came from his work down their left. Would still like to see him in blue (or pink!) shirt again someday! oafcprozac
was a left back with us and the fact that he has made his career at Northampton as a left sided midfielder probably answer your ? about why he left. I was a big Holty fan and during the 'Ritchie Years' he was the ray of light in a steaming dung heap, scoring many an important goal. However, rumours of a move to Celtic during Spring/Summer 2000 definitely turned his head and his performances declined markedly during the first few months of 2000/01 - to the extent where he was becoming a liabililty at left-back. He was eventually dropped and loaned to Hull before the move was made permanent for £150k later in the season. Billy Urmson was gutted as his target of many an in game bollocking had left the club! Some great memories from Holty though - the screamer at Chesterfield when Shez didn't even need to look where he was passing! His solo effort v Blackpool, The daisy cutter at Colchester and of course the sliding volley vs Cambridge and the winner at Wrexham in Aril '99 when we started to believe that a team of mediocre kids might possibly defy the odds and scramble to safety. As you say tottie, never a LB, but a real threat going forward. A poor man's DJ
lookers87
I the winner at Wrexham in Aril '99 when we started to believe that a team of mediocre kids might possibly defy the odds and scramble to safety. Great day that one. And of course Holty had an excellent song...well 10x better than the rubbish we get these days. Holty had a good game for them on Sat, but he's also been here a number of times since he left and been rubbish. He's one of those players who when he is playing well looks the part. I remember him playing as a wingback when we were playing 5 at the back under Ritchie, with Paul Reid behind him.
