johnny punkster
From the quotes in the bison I think Penney sees Fleming as being inexperienced rather than the established keeper we take him for. If he gets games up there that can only be good for us as he will return a better keeper or be sold for a big profit. Fingers crossed Brill turns out to be brill and injury free. but hasn't he already had experience in the scottish premier league??? baffling. there must be something in the background going on here. Senor_Coconut
Ridiculous decision if true, to have some inexperienced young keeper on the bench and then stating he doesnt know what to do about it yet- why the f*** would we want to be in that situation of having to get another emergency loan keeper in when we have our own 2 keepers baffling? Stop moaning, Loan keepers are the easiest players to acquire. No doubt this opens up the budget a little more and will give Josh more opertunity to play reserve games. DP says he barely played 40 games for us and Gretna and he's what, 23? Another full season will do him well.

johnny punkster
DP says he barely played 40 games for us and Gretna and he's what, 23? Another full season will do him well. so he's not good enough then to be first choice then?
garcon
We've had as many excellent keepers on loan as duffers. This is a surprise, but I can see all kinds of reasons why it could be the right move.
dean 1984
so he's not good enough then to be first choice then? Exactly if Brill turns out to be not so brill then what do we do if we need to swap them round? put bleedin Ollerenshaw in net thats good hes even more inexperienced than Flem. Ohh no we get a loan keeper in lets go for some crap reserve team keeper from hartlepool when we have our own perfectly good keeper out on loan- seemingly pointless, a joke, beyond belief

Chris Howarth was good. Also, Lee Grant. Also also, Paul Rachubka. But yeah, generally speaking loan keepers are rubbish.
OldhamSheridan
He's not Penney's signing, and if he doesn't fancy him for the job, then so be it. We haven't really lost anything and backup keepers are ten a penny.

dean 1984
Why is Brill automatically 1st choice worries me, pre season has only just started, meaning he has no-one pushing him for the number 1 spot now, you perform well pre season you are given a chance is usually the jist of things, so automatically Brill doesnt need to work hard to be number

astottie
he's gone... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...tic/8144103.stm well i'd love to know the reason behind this..??? me too. Didn't see that one coming. Surely he wasn't a big earner? must be a replacement lined up to come in pdq one would think.
OldhamSheridan
like jan butz ! Yes, Jan Butz is the only one available. Seriously, we are only looking for a backup keeper here (and I suspect this is the reason why Fleming has moved, as he wants to be a first teamer). We should be able to come up with someone half decent.
GlossopLatic
Do we have a clause regarding a 24 hour recall notice then this might start to make abit more sense?
Senor_Coconut
Do we have a clause regarding a 24 hour recall notice then this might start to make abit more sense? Theres no recall on season long loans I believe.

astottie
Do we have a clause regarding a 24 hour recall notice then this might start to make abit more sense? can't put that sort of clause in a season long loan . Can recall him in the transfer window.
RoytonBlueLad
Do we have a clause regarding a 24 hour recall notice then this might start to make abit more sense? Being season long would that not bring in the Windass style rule whereby he could return but not actually play.
