Nail, head, hit :)

I see plenty of Asians down at Old Trafford when I take my dad.

I think Leicester have a fairly healthy percentage of Asian supporters too. West Brom too. Both clubs do a load of work with the local ethnic population. I think slowly these barriers are starting to recede quite a bit, presumably as more generations come through and more Asian young men consider themselves to be more British than immigrant.

Maybe with us it's more of a small town type of thing. Either that or the gang of young Oldham gone-wrongs walking in a police escort singing "I'd rather be a Paki than a Scouse" after the Tranmere away game last season.

Erm, you're the first person to use "racist" in the thread, so they can't have been that quick.

Hmmmm. What's that line you like to use....''anyone with half a brain....''

You were calling 'bowl' a racist. Which is fair enough. You're entitled to your opinion. I just think you're a typical lefty PCer who is too quick to point the finger when people say something a bit right-wing where different communities are involved.

In my opinion, people have been a bit 'harsh' on 'bowl'....fishing with a racist hook and that - come on. Please. Get your heads out of that dreamy left-wing utopia. He's repeating exactly the sort of stuff you'll hear your average Oldhamer come out with.

Stitch posts something very similar albeit more articulate and with a lot more explanation and no-one jumps down his throat....now who are the people showing prejudice.

Well, nice try, but if you can find where I called him/her a racist, you'll have done well.

What I actually said was that he was using prejudice. It's a different thing, it is usually shown by the affirmation of a stereotype. A bit like you've done with that "typical lefty PCer" thing. See, what you've done there is decide that I fit into a little stereo-type you've got stored in your head, and then when you don't like/don't want to actually lsiten, you pull out the stereo-type from your memory and use it in place of the person. Then you don't have to bother thinking, you can just disagree with them from the off.

You don't know me from adam, or eve, for that matter but you've hung a whole load of stuff on me. Prejudice.

We all have prejudice, we can't really get by without it, but you have to accept your prejudices and allow yourself to overcome them when they are negative. Sometimes you can have positive prejudices, and those can be wrong too.

I'm not implying anything, I'm noting that no-one was called racist, but when someone (wrongly) said that someone was, someone else (you) backed it up. So you backed up a comment that made no sense. That's a funny thing to do.

The FACTS are with me on this one.

Have a look at your own prejudices - all that "dreamy left-wing utopia" stuff. Has anyone suggested goose-stepping right wing crushing fists in response? has anyone gone down the BNP-scum route? So, why all the lefty stuff?

That is all a bit school play-ground.

But hey, it's wonderful in Bury, isn't it.

Actually it is pretty good over here, large new development being built in the centre of town, large indoor and outdoor market, cinema, bowling alley, good restaurants serving all manner of cuisine, metrolink, good motorway links, good schools and a pretty decent place to be all round. After significant initial reservations I am very pleased I moved here.

I do think bowl,.. by at least some members of this great community implied his comments were, or had been slightly racist.

Was i wrong.?

Now, what i said was nothing to do with bowl at all, i just stated that some people on here and in my experience a lot of places, seem to jump at the chance of anything that's not in line with the so called "PC brigade" and to me the PC brigade are those that just verbally assault anyone elses opinions that don't marry up with theirs, no matter what the subject, sexuality, race or religeon.

It's realy that simple.

I didn't back anything or anyone up at all, maybe you just missunderstood what i was saying

In some ways I'd agree about the overuse of "racist" - more often than not you'll find that people who say things some people call "racist" actually know and like some people from whatever "race" they are criticising. Hence why I used prejudice. Often people will say "oh not so-and-so, he's ok, but the rest of them are a bunch of......."

These people tar "the rest of them" with all the negative qualities they have seen in that particluar "race" - hence prejudice is what they are using.

Perhaps if people challenged the validity of the statement, rather than just calling out "racist" it might make people with open minds think again - I think if you look back you'll see that, that is exactly what I did.

i know of atleast 2 Asian lads who go to every home game from doing working a Glodwick a few years back most of the kids would rather support United, Chelsea etc but if given a free ticket most would go but like most kids unless an adult took them there they would not bother.

would they go do you think if we had asian players in the team. or even became the first team in the country to field 11 asian players.

a few asians dotted around BP could/might happen

it has been mentioned about being sat with 'groups of white supporters' or 'groups of asain supporters'?

groups of asain supporters at BP? :laught16: Dont make me laugh, with some of the moronic people in this town, there would be a riot at every home game

in fact give the asians the small section of the Rochdale, the large section to the away fans, and the white people the rest, then it might work

us mix with them? they mix with us? isnt going to happen

Some people are morons but i don't think the answer is to accomodate the morons by saying "it's never gonna happen so let's not bother trying." It does make it a lot harder for anything the club does to have an impact though.

who cares

i don't care about the NHL, or cricket, or FIFA 10 on the Xbox. That's why i haven't posted on the threads about any of those things.
