jolly
Are we wearing shirts with poppies on this weekend ? to be auctioned off to raise funds for the poppy appeal. If not why not, has the club missed another oppurtunity to gain positive exposure and do something for our heroes past and present !! oafcprozac
Ha ha no i mean embroidered into the shirt We wore them 3 years ago at Kettering as we actually played the game on the 11/11 - Armistice Day, not sure if they will do it this year... LaticsPete
Are we wearing shirts with poppies on this weekend ? to be auctioned off to raise funds for the poppy appeal. If not why not, has the club missed another oppurtunity to gain positive exposure and do something for our heroes past and present !! A bit OTT. I think you'll find we were one of the first to do it, against Kettering. There are so many doing it now there's hardly any media "exposure" . Diego_Sideburns
Latics and Kettering,, known as ‘The Poppies’ because their ground was built on a poppy field, were the first to do that on 11th November 2006. It was appropriate that year because the match was played on the day that commemorated the 88th anniversary of the guns falling silent on Armistice Day.The profits from the auctioned shirts went to the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal. Since then they haven’t played on the 11th of the 11th month, so to do it on the nearest match day would not have the same special significance, although other clubs have done it to be seen to be doing it. Gregan has only scored for us when wearing a poppy on his shirt. Perhaps he could pin one to his captain's armband.
oafc0000
The poppy on the shirts is a great mark of respect... But its also no doubt not cheap... I would much rather prefare we held a min silence and contributed some money to the poppy appeal.... While we are on the topic I hope everyone has taken time to contribute!! http://www.poppy.org.uk/

JoeLatics
Apparently the RAF cadets are selling them prior to kick off, in the ground, but they got abuse off the 'udders lot on Sunday when they tried it!
