leeslover
There is no way he would be locked up for a minor breach, he must have done something bad enough for Jack Straw and his merry men not to release the details, it will be them with egg on their faces if he has commited a serious crime because of the national outrage of them being released at 18 yr old. I don’t quite know what the rights and wrongs here are, but with an election round the corner I would be amazed at the Government taking any decisions in this case that could be splashed across the News of the World as being soft on baby-murderers. As for the kid’s mother, I’ve seen my mum (who is an former head teacher) intervene to make sure that parents she has seen finding their kids who were lost were really the parents, as apparently it is trick that potential abductors use, and I managed to get away from her a few times when I was little. Mrs Bulger was just desperately unlucky, that’s all.

creepy
The Sun claim he had child porn on his computer. wasnt that a seperate issue though? i might be wrong but i thought the police found that on his computer after he was arrested for the original offence? Jack Straw refuses to reveal why he is back in prison
Ackey
He should be back in prison, should never have come out... so on and so forth... However, we have no right to know why he's back. If this was average-joe-scally going back for breaking his bail conditions the papers wouldn't have a right to know. Just because something is high profile doesn't change the rights of the person (no matter how much of a scrote they may be!)

Just because something is high profile doesn't change the rights of the person (no matter how much of a scrote they may be!) +1. And as for asking for his identity to be revealed, no chance. The same people asking for it to be revealed are the same ones who kick up a fuss that his new identity comes from the taxpayer's pocket...well if his new identity is revealed then he'll have to have another one...and guess who will pay for that? Straw is right not to reveal the details, particularly at the moment...there's a lynch mob growing and the tabloids are doing their best to fan the flames. Regardless of what he's done, and he really is the lowest of the low already (irrespective of whether or not the current speculation is true), we live in a civil country with a legal system designed to both punish and protect. The government are perfectly correct not to disclose someone's personal details if it puts their safety in jeopardy - they should not be pandering to all those who want to know who/where he is so they can get the retribution that they, for whatever reason, feel they are entitled to. opinions4u
However, we have no right to know why he's back. Out of interest, why not? If this was average-joe-scally going back for breaking his bail conditions the papers wouldn't have a right to know. Again, why not? If somebody is being prosecuted for a new offence there are very few situations that would shield their identity. Just because something is high profile doesn't change the rights of the person (no matter how much of a scrote they may be!) I'm not paying devils advocate here. I don't understand why, in a "normal" case, there is no public record of why such decisions are made ... presumably to protect the public. I can potentially understand why a decision is made to keep Venables' identity secret. If his latest crime/breach is a rare offence, then stating it openly ahead of a new court case would potentially identify him. If he's just snorted a bit of coke, wandered over the boundary in to Scouseland or punched somebody in the street then that is fairly run of the mill stuff that would probably never get to court again. Regardless of what he's done / alleged to have done etc he knew the rules of his licence and is back inside. I won't lose any sleep over that. beag_teeets
Who gives a :censored: really? He isn't a danger to any of us, he isn't some super villain with mad powers who can knock buildings down with one swipe. He is one headcase who did something bad a long time ago and is screwed in the head as he was at the time or has become since. Jim/James/Jaime/Jamie/J/icklebabijames Bulger's parents are directly affected and always will in the same way the parents of the kids killed by Huntley are affected when he pops up but outside of that why is so much attention being focused on this non-story by the low-rent tabloids when there are far bigger stories that have much more bearing on our lives. We are months away from an election that will lead to some of the harshest economic conditions this country has seen, we've had 0.1% recovery and think we've waived the recession away - we haven't even touched the sides as the real pain is being delayed until after the election is out of the way. Where is the scrutiny of what each of the parties are proposing to tackle what will be a much bigger threat to each and everyone of us than some mental scouser. This story is easier to flog as it is relatively black and white, if you don't agree with "e shud rott in ell" then you are a lily livered leftie liberal who doesn't live in the real world, pass me my pitchfork we are having a good 'ole fashioned witch-hunt with a bit of mob justive, burn all the paediatricians, der taking ur jerbs. Plenty of fecking dicks in the world... Just heard there has been a very sensible suggestion made to increase the age of criminal responsibility to 12 instead of 10. It will fall on deaf ears no doubt given the level of mass hysteria operating in the country at the moment.
