That's too extreme - trying to force a Latics season ticket back on someone
oafc-latics
what were they doing at the end? lining up as if they were expecting a pitch invasion?

LaticMark
What has it come to when Dave Penney is so unpopular that he has to be protected from Latics supporters (all 2700 of them!) by the club's own stewards?

It was pretty funny, he was walking out, then a steward felt the need to escort him the rest of the way

I agree that repeating something twice doesn’t necessarily make it true, but seeing it with my own eyes does! In all my years of sitting (and standing) in the main stand paddock I’ve never seen any trouble from the home supporters. As such the behaviour of the stewards was, to say the least, a little strange. I can only conclude that someone at the club was worried about how the home fans would react to DP if we were losing? One or two of the home fans were taking the mickey out of these stewards, which was certainly more entertaining than some of the football on display! It is pretty rare to see our fans kicking it off at home - I was there when Rickers goal (for Walsall) at home to Walsall caused what I'd call a "mini handbags exchange" in the Chaddy due to the "Die Ricketts, die fans" and the "pro Rickers fans" disagreement the other Xmas time but you're right it is unusual. I'd prefer it is you didn't mix up Rickers with that 'ex-England international megastar legend in his own lunchtime pissflap' that 'played' for us* for half a season. * played, that was, when he could be arsed/wasn't 'polishing his lighthouse' about having a Bentley/letting his ego get in the way etc.
wardlelatic
The fan who throw his ST on the pitch has been banned until the end of the season..... The lucky Git
