New Manager Thread

I really hope that Gray isn't a serious contender. If the owners go cheap and appoint him then they're pushing the self-destruct button on this club and might as well kiss goodbye the a surge in ST sales.

Crossley and Bunn are unknown entities despite their history here but excite me more than Gray continuing the steady decline that we had under Penney.

We desperately need a shot in the arm -

High profile name to increase the column inches for us in the press, possibly enticing some investment

Secure some decent loan signings through their connections

Some steel in the middle of the park

I hope the rumours concerning Butt were true and he was one of the interviewees over the last 48 hours.

This is a serious post.

I've just been to the Georgian, and Hope Powell was in there handing in her notice. The woman on the desk said she was coming to Latics.

Watch this space.

P.S - Anyone gotta spare £50?

All my spare has just gone on Scott Murray, the bit before that went on Brian Tinnion, need to keep a bit in case Steve Brooker or Louis Carey decide to pop there heads up, or if Leroy Lita decides to step into early management.

Think you might have a better chance with those two thatn Brian Tinnion, not sure Brian has the X factor <crosses arms>

Tinnion is god. I got an email back off him the other day saying he would have applied for the Oldham job, but he's currently more interested and better suited to the Plymouth job.

Assuming he is a genuine applicant, for me he stands out from the other names that head up the bookies' list.

If he's simply using us as a bargaining tool with the new masters at Stockport (or hasn't even applied) then so be it.

The trouble i if he goes to Stocky, the grassy knoll guys will say we did not try hard enough.

or If he doesn't get it then others will say the TTA were mad not to offer it Gannon over X.

He could have never applied, or given a completly bobbiins interview and demanded a doubing of the budget.

Will we ever know?

On a serious note, i heard from a very good source that he's not interested. Well he wasn't two weeks ago.

Colin Cooper

Hmmmm. Has he been mentioned anywhere?? There is quite a clamour for us to go with a young, un-tried but keen & hungry type. Initially Gary Speed was a name put forward; but then Butt came along. What about Cooper?? Fit in with the criteria above & is now out of work after ‘Boro got rid of Southgates backroom staff a few weeks ago. I wonder if he has applied; wanting to take his 1st steps into management?

Or; as an ex-‘Boro player; would he be tempted to join Mark Crossley in an assistant manager / coach role???
