watty123
I know this doesn't belong in this section but wanted as many as possible to see as I'm hoping someone can help. I'm after a decent picture of the Queens Arms and can't seem to find one when searching. Any ideas? Cheers in advance

Yard Dog
You won't get one at the minute - it's all tinned up. For-sale sign outside. I fear it will go the same way as most of the other old boozers in Coldhurst/Westwood/Busk. Brook Tavern is now a large family house, the boozer on the other side ofthe side street facing it is now an Asian Restaurant/Take-Away, the New Museum is up for sale, the Westwood Inn is called the Halal Inn, the boozer next the Westwood East is now an Islamic School. Somebody told me the Brook Tavern went for just 70k...I will see if I can confirm this on nethouseprices.com

Yard Dog
In response to the original post, the pic you have to find of that pub is when it had painted on its gable a big England flag with an OAFC crest in the middle. Zorrro
the pubs themselves. some of the ppl who frequented them. IMO Wasn't like that 10-15 years ago (and, I'm sure, beyond that). The Brook and The Queens in particular were absolutely bouncing every single weekend at the end of the 90s.

Yard Dog
http://www.paramountinvestments.co.uk/Prop...anchester-OL1-3 no chance of a sale at that price..and £10k+ rates IF the Brook went for 70k then I cannot see it at anything like the 235k it is listed at. It will end up going to the auction and some local Asian will bid the owner in the bollocks.

leeslover
Up and down the land people find any number of excuses for why pubs are closing than that there weren't enough people wanting to go in them and spend money for what they get in return. Agreed. Pisses me off when people blame the smoking ban and price of ale. Fact is, people are changing and doing different things with their leisure time - whether that's going round to your mates and drinking cheap cider, or going out with your bird and eating nasty chinese food and drinking overpriced wine. It saddens me too. It's not just the pubs shutting down, it's the fact that in many ways they signify an end of an era....a whole way of life...the old white working class culture is disappearing at a phenomenal rate and nowhere is it more evident than right here. That said, most of us have never had it so good, and, climate aside, this is still the best country in the whole wide world Will it stay this way though... Most blokes wouldn't even get their two shags a week and the birthday blowjob if they used the pub like our granddads did. The culture is going against that for sure, I do think it's a bad thing that the Government has got involved by taxing drinking out so heavily, well shock horror, people get loaded before they go out. Next, attack people selling affordable takeaway drink and see homebrewing and kitchen cleaner take off...
