Roger Ritchie
Of all the signings Penney made. How many do you think we will have left come the end of the season? There were some rascal signings weren’t there. Parker – Gone Colbeck – Gone Abbott – Possibly going Worthington – Listed Purdie – Listed Jacobson – Listed Which leaves us with: Brill – Oldham’s number one. Holdsworth – keeping it grimy Furman – Will have a wow of a season without the distraction of trying to avoid going back to South Africa. Dave Penney is a football genius
PlayItLivo
Furman, Abbott and Brill I'm happy for to be here. The rest can pish off. Worthington will be one of our top earners, but he's so average no one will take him for what we're paying him. Gaz_Oafc
I rate Holdsworth, but i think he'll find it hard to get into the team. Furman's had a decent pre-season, he wont get infront of Stephens and Dickov rates Jones. That could potentially leave him 4th choice CM. Will he be first choice RB infront of Kieran Lee? Has Holdsworth ever played right wing? Of the others, Brill will be here as we wont get rid of both first choice keepers. Furman will be here i cant see us gettin rid of Worthington due to his wages (wernt hudders paying a % of his wage last year?) Purdie will find a club i think. Haribo_man
Jones has been playin RM in pre-season so Smalley loosing position or will he put jones in CM Holdsworth was probably our most consistent players up until his injury. I do recall that Greegs and Ruubes were still being referred to as the chuckle brothers at that stage before super Greegs turned in one of the best seasons in recent memory. Holdsworth would be a great squad player but I am sure he could be deployed on the RW. Smalley and Tayls aside we are very weak in that area, i don't think young Kirk is up to the first team just yet despite a few promising appearances last season. RobOAFC
i don't think young Kirk is up to the first team just yet despite a few promising appearances last season. Agreed. Millar maybe better for bringing on with around 20 minutes left in games and running past the tired defenders. He also needs to get to the gym to get some more muscle on him. Me and my mate were talking about that on Weds night; when Holdsworth came on. I’d have to say that Lee has made the RB spot his own with his displays last season & again so far this season. It’s his to lose I’d say anyway….. Holdsworth looked good early last season; he was one of the better players until his injury. I’m pretty sure he played Right midfield in a few of the games (he won a penalty bursting from midfield; think it was Brentford away; might be wrong on the game like?) Like you; I don’t see him featuring in CM – Stephens & Furman look to have the centre 2 spots tied down; with Jones on the Right of midfield. I think he will be limited to going for either RB or RM; fighting with Lee for RB and Jones & Smalley (when he’s back from Injury) for the RM spot. If he doesn’t start – he’s a very good player at our level to have on the bench; like Jarrett; he gives 2 or 3 positional options from just the 1 player with his versatility. Lee Sinnott
(he won a penalty bursting from midfield; think it was Brentford away; might be wrong on the game like?) He did it twice in a week, first at Orient, then at Milwall.

I'd agree but it's no longer as big a plus in these days of seven subs. I like Holdsworth, he hasn't great quality but he's tenacious and keeps things simple, which are likely the fundamental reasons he's so versatile. No doubt he's a good squad player for us, but maybe he should look to specialise in a position for the sake of his career.
boundaryblue80
Hang on...is this which ones were rubbish...or which ones have gone? Two different questions, yet you've cleverly tried making it into the one... Parker – Cack - Gone Colbeck – Cack - Gone Worthington – Cack to Average - Gone Jacobson – Cack to Average - Gone Brill – Cack - Still here - Dickov rates cackness? Furman – Cack - Still here - Dickov rates cackness? Abbott – Good player - Gone - Dickov doesn't rate good players? Holdsworth – Good till injured - Dickov wants to see more And... Purdie – Never played - nobody can comment - Gone What's the question again? Answer: 42 PS I'd suggest the real answer is...:censored: budget, :censored: players (DP way) or :censored: budget, young kids and :censored: players (PD way)...to be concluded... There is no chance in hell Worthington is 'Cack to Average', apart from his ability to pressure the opposition he is absolutely shocking. It is a statement of fact that i'm a far far better footballer than he will ever be. He's very fit and puts loads of effort, but apart from that what's he got? I agree with all comments about Kieron Lee, very solid, I am very happy to have him make that position his own

There hasn't been a lot wonderful about Furman this preseason...same old tiresome stuff...runs about a bit, often chasing shadows and when he does win the ball, rarely does it go forward. If it does, rarely does he follow the play forward. The Bolton game said it all...driving runs through the middle from Hazell and Lewis setting up goals...Furman...still mulling about in the centre circle looking for a fiver he's dropped... That lad needs to wake up and realise he's playing for a career in professional football as he's got a hell of a lot to do... He's one of them players who are priceless on cold wet windy days when no one else can be arsed putting the effort in and he'll be one of the best players on the pitch. Defending a 1-0 lead with 10 minutes to go and oppo are piling on the pressure he is decent then. I'd be tempted to keep him as back up, but am guessing he'll be on a fair wedge so can understand why PD wants him to go.

Does the simple things and tidy's up allowing stephens and jones to get on the ball and press, works hard and has got forward from time to time as well, tons better than last year. Don't think he ever is going to be a kilkenny esque player, similar to the worthy role but with actual skill and ability although i agree worthy is a trier and decent cover if needed.
