PlayItLivo
Injuries have taken their toll and El Fenomino has decided to call it a day. <a href="http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11860_6751068,00.html" target="_blank">http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11860_6751068,00.html</a> Best Striker of the past 20 years, for me. Unplayable and untouchable on his day. It's a shame he suffered as many injuries and set backs as he did because he would have been G.O.A.T material otherwise. <a href=" target="_blank"> I'll never forget that game against Man Utd at Old Trafford, the United defence just couldn't handle him at all and he scored a hattrick and when being substituted at the end everyone in the stadium, including Man Utd fans got up and clapped him off the pitch. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCayNnIEH88" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCayNnIEH88</a> Remarkable player. dave_ragg1984
A truly great player. Its a shame he was injured so often, because otherwise, like you say, he would have been a contender from best ever.
Lee Sinnott
An absolute phenomenon. I remember him getting a standing ovation at OT a few years back after scoring a hat trick against United.

Stitch_KTF
I'm afraid a freebie to a European Cup QF set to feature the likes of Ronaldo, Zizou, Figo, Roberto Carlos and Steve McManaman was too much to pass up!

Aye, I can see were you're coming from, the word freebie would have dragged me in, good job Greegs hadn't signed by then or you might have found those names abit too much of a come down though. rosa
I hate to own up to having been there, but I begun the ovation. Honestly. Did you start the "Fergie, Fergie, sign him up" chant as well? And yet no ovation for McMananaman when he got subbed... Gianluigi Buffon put it quite well: "In the history of football,Ronaldo is going to be remembered among the biggest, in the Temple of the Gods with Maradona and Pele. However, he should have a big regret, because he could have been the greatest of all time - even better than those two."
