The last time we turned over a side at the top of the league

Recommended Posts

didnt we batter champions to be luton under talbot only for them to equalise in the last minute at bp ?

Yeah, Steve Howard. Luke Beckett arrived that day and gave us what we'd struggled for all season - natural goalscoring ability. It was a draw though, not a win.

We beat 2007-08 champions, Swansea on the opening day of that season.

Not the last time I don;t think, but the 1-0 win at Wigan on 7th Jan 2000 was quite satisfying!

You know I forget things that I was going to do this morning, but that day does remain emvbedded in the memory.

I can think of a few memorable ones: Brighton in 2002, Plymouth in 2004. When was the last time we defied the odds to give a bloody nose to the champions elect? And what games to you fondly recollect?

Took 4 points off Scunny in 06/07

Drew home and away v Leicester 08/09

Historically against the Champions elect?

86/87 Beat Derby away on the opening day of 86/87 we were battered 4-1 in the return

87-88 Drew Home and Away 0-0 & 1-1 v Millwall

88/89 came from 2 down to draw at all conquering Chelsea, battered 4-1 at BP

89/90 only a last-minute equaliser at Elland Road on NYD prevented us beating Leeds in all Four meetings that year (2-1 & 3-1 at BP, 2-1 & 1-1 at ER)

90/91

91/92 Beat Leeds at BP lost 1-0 away

92/93 Last team to beat United en route to their first title in 26 years…lost 3-0 at OT

93/94 Scum beat us in 3 out of the 4th meetings and we know what happened in the other game

94/95 Beat Boro at BP thanks to an injury time Stitch special lost 2-1 at Ayresome

95/96 Sunderland beat us Home and Away 1-2 & 0-1

96/97 Held a bloody good Bolton side to a 0-0 draw on the way down lost 3-1 away

97-98 WAtford beat us 2-1 at VR and DRew 2-2 at BP

98-99 Drew 1-1 at BP with Fulham unluckily lost 1-0 at CC

99-00 PNE beat us 1-0 at BP and 2-0 at DD

00-01 Millwall beat us 1-0 at BP and 5-0 at TND

01/02 Beat Brighton at BP - Appleby and Eyres. Zamora sent off lost 3-0 away

02-03 Wigan beat us 2-0 at BP and 3-1 at the JCB

03/04 Battered Plymouth 4-1 drew 2-2 away

04/05 Lost 2-1 at Luton, drew 2-2 at BP

05/06 Lost 2-1 at Southend drew 0-0 at BP

06/07 Beat Scunny 1-0 at BP drew 1-1 away

07/08 Beat Swansea 2-1 at BP lost 1-2 away

08/09 Drew 1-1 at BP with Leicester, drew 0-0 away

09/10 Lost 2-0 at Norwich Lost 1-0 at BP

Leeds 2-0 in prem, could be wrong but they went on to win the league that year (may have years mixed up)

jobbo with the first???

andy barlow volley to seal it

Paul Bernard mate, Barlow sealing it in the last minute..

Jobbo's goal was a fortnight later v QPR sealing a 2-1 win, flattening (Darren?) Peacock to head home at the far-post at the RRE.

I remember that game didn't we throw the kitchen sink at them in the 2nd half and the final result relegated us?

Forgettable game mate, we had a go but we needed the win. Relegation was confirmed after a 2-0 defeat at Elm Park the week after. Stitch missed a pen at 0-0….

96/97 Held a bloody good Bolton side to a 0-0

Mark Allott's debut goal. Restricted view at Burnden, my dad asked me to pick up my programme from under my seat as it was over, and missed the goal!

06/07 Beat Scunny 1-0 at BP drew 1-1 away

Gary Mac last min!

07/08 Beat Swansea 2-1 at BP lost 1-2 away

Ricketts debut goal! Watching SSN in Liverpool airport after knee reconstruction!

08/09 Drew 1-1 at BP with Leicester, drew 0-0 away

Windass in nets, on Sky

My most memorable...

I have to mention this one. It was the season of 1992/93, the first season of the newly formed premiership, and we played United! United were top of the country and Oldham were 4 points adrift at the foot of the table and struggling. The result was a gritty, determined one nil win over united at Boundary park. Correct me if I'm wrong stattos - but didn't Neil Adams Knock in the winner from a dropped corner possibly from Schmiecal? Anyway, this win was the platform and catalyst for the great escape :)))

Sure we beat Hull around 6/7 seasons back when Killen scored off a Kilkenny freekick and we won 1-0?

they were top at that point but ended up 2nd
