WF2 SPIREITE
Unsurprisingly no, I have not seen Arbroath's stadium. My point was quite clearly that was the B2Net has no echoes of vernacular architecture. It could be plonked anywhere in the UK as it was clearly not designed to reflect its location in Chesterfield. I would like to think that any stadium built in the Oldham area would make an attempt to look like it belongs there. jimsleftfoot
True but I'd rather be where we are now with the ground in place generating funds than your situation and I'm not being a smart aris. Very true and I think many would agree* - smart arse. *Apart from those who'd rather us build a 80,000 all seater for when we win the world cup. grim
Been to both games, went corporate in the league game.Included a stadium tour, meal and decent seats at top of main stand.Went in the away end last night, decent facilites and atmosphere.Having a 10600 capacity isn't a problem if they fill in the corners if they ever get in the Championship. mattthepriseite
Right size?? 10,600 capacity, would be a joke for any team with Championship aspirations. If and when we get to the Championship we can fill the corners in for a start taking the capacity up to about 15000. A new stadium really does wonders to the club on a whole and makes it more appealing to families etc. If we had still been at Saltergate last season i very much doubt we would have won the league. I hope you get your new stadium and you can bring in the extra fans. Are there any plans to build a new one as i have seen the stadium on this thread but didnt know if you have the money/go ahead? RobOAFC
The ground wasn't as soulless as I'd expected and the facilities were superb. Unfortunately though it was another stadium that could be anywhere from Arbroath to Wrexham. I'd be happy with something similar as long as we tailored it to Oldham. The brick facade on the Failsworth proposals (below) designed to replicate the mills were a cracking touch. I hope this is the sort of thing we make sure is in the scheme when one eventually surfaces & comes to fruition. As long as they update the plans to show our new badge If and when we get to the Championship we can fill the corners in for a start taking the capacity up to about 15000. Money to go ahead? We ain't seen no plans for BP yet! Plan to redevelop BP after the charity commission said we couldn't build in failsworth, but then decided to change their mind once we made alternative plans and abandoned failsworth and said we could build there. But apparently it's BP redevelopment. Apparently.
