24hoursfromtulsehill
I've no problems with all of the singers going to the RRE but, I'm not putting up with not being able to sit in the Chaddy. Away fans can stay in the small section of the RRE. I don't want a row. Just have a think about it. It's not personal either - the seats and the culture are to blame, not you. Plus the weird thing where your seat is allocated. Season tickets aren't season tickets - they're season seats. This is why people get so attached to them - and one reason why fewer and fewer people go on the off chance (the main one being money). Let me try this one on ya: if everyone stays where they are, the club goes under. You get to keep your seat and your bit of concrete and the little metal things. 24hoursfromtulsehill
Lower league Italian football. Compare that to lower league British football when it tries imitation... Awful. I see where you're coming from, but at least they're having a go. Without them BP would be worse than... Anfield.

Wont happen by the time you start singing the stewards will have took your microphone and escorting you out the ground to the chants of you fat B'stard. JonesyOAFC
you're right - the English spectating 'experience' is utterly gash. It amazes me how it's just been meekly accepted. In Germany at the moment there is a campaign against the prospect of some clubs considering - not doing, considering - the prospect of charging €20 to stand up at a Bundesliga game. €20 for top flight football and they're kicking off about it. And they can stand. And drink. And they sing. The atmosphere is like nothing you find in England. And they have an actual stake in their clubs. Some Premier League fanboys dont mind being utterly financially violated if it means their darlings can have a good tilt at the Champions League but what's in it for everyone else? The Chaddy used to be such a fantastic place but now....dead. There's little atmosphere and those that do try and get it going are usually derided by others. Not slagging off those 'others' by the way - everyones entitled to their own viewpoint but it's these all seater grounds that throw everyone together - there's no 'knobhead area' to allow the young un's to just go and make some noise and have a laugh without upsetting those who want a quieter life and dont like bad language. No wonder nobody goes anymore, it's a rip off, it's like a morgue, the place is falling down, there is absolutely no 'vibe' going on at Latics at all. Make it a tenner in, have terracing, let us drink and I couldnt give a toss what division we were in - people would take a lot more joy out of supporting the club. it's quite a depressing thought that you can pay roughly the same price to watch Borussia Dortmund, the champions of Germany, in one of the best, most atmospheric stadiums in Europe, as Oldham v Exeter. The mentality of English supporters doesn't help; 6000 Oldham fans sitting down at our biggest game in years is a good example of this. The atmosphere at Anfield was such an incredible disappointment

Markoasis
Simply: they are next to the away fans, who for some reason they sing "I'm a banker, I'm a banker....... " dispite the fact that the oppo team his clearly from Devon. The education system in Oldham as a lot to answer for or do they really think that England is made up of Lancashire and Yorkshire I go in the Rocky because the view in the Chaddy is rubbish and I can't fit in the seats in the main stand. The education system in Oldham as a lot to answer for or do they really think that England is made up of Lancashire and Yorkshire I think it's a stupid reason, but I think the logic is the same as singing about hating ManUre, City and Leeds. Playing them (or Yorkshire teams, in the case of 'I'm a bastard') or not, we still hate them and want to sing about it. And I know the education system is not good, but I think that's a moot point in this case.
Markoasis
Let's face it. As a supporter of football in this country, one has to admit - it's absolutely gash over here. Stifled by knee-jerk bull:censored: government policies made 30 odd years ago by the Popplewell and Taylor enquiries based on decaying stadiums that were well past their best, and centred on over-managing the fans rather than addressing the environments they populate. Just sayin' +

The atmosphere at Anfield was such an incredible disappointment surely it's cheaper? It cost us €30 at Frankfurt for the best seats in the ground, whereas we could of paid €10 to stand on the terrace and we paid €8 to stand at Wisebaden who were in the 2nd Tier at the time and both places were rocking despite both clubs struggling at the time. They have a different mentality than watching Latics, for them it was a recreational activity whereas at Latics theres the feeling that it's a chore and you're not suppose to enjoy it (certainly amongst some people I've sat amonst) Edited January 26, 2012 by Tommy_Fent

JonesyOAFC
was it? i had a cracking time and all those around me in block 126 were doing likewise.....?? Compared to what it could/should have been, yeah, massively disappointing. The last ten minutes was good, but the rest of the game, meh. It's pretty difficult to create a decent atmosphere sat on your arse though tbh.
ghostofcecere
Whats the full words? was told in the Junction Sat night it use to be are anthem that. Can't remember all of it now (there were quite a few verses!) as it's a long time since the Ste Waller Booze Bus days, but the bit that refered to 'The Dodge' was: With Roger Palmer scoring, the Chaddy End all roaring, I don't know why I love you but I do.... The only other part I can remember is: Remembering the glory days we had, sometimes it's make me feel a little sad, now it's Macclesfield and City, my god it's such a pity, I don't know why I love you but I do I would say it was more of a booze bus anthem rather than Latics fans anthem, it was mainly heard at away games. There was a rather un-PC song about Werneth that used to come out as well to wind the legend that was Chubbs up too. Happy dasys, even though we were :censored: then as well

SholverBlue
atleast if their gonna do songs like this, get all of them in one section... hence why the italians are amazing supporters, because they have a section of nutters, which is why it sounds crap cause theirs about 50 of them at the top of the rre... otherwise its a great song, and ina way many songs come from copys of others, cause everyones lazy It's an awful 'chant' when it's dpone by British fans. It does nothing to back the team, it's foreign, it's stupid, it's dull and everyone's doing it. Why can't we be original? We sing OWTB in a way no one else does, Zigga Zagga is our chant but we could do with some more originality. "Everyone's lazy" is a poor excuse for not being inoriginal. We're English, not Italian. It's awful when I see people trying to imitate foreigners.

maddog
There's waaaaaay too much embarrassment around. Why choose song choice to be embarrassed about? Surely there's no additional embarrassment to singing a stolen song than simply supporting Latics. Don't take yourselves so seriously! Loftyboy
Us: Decent indoor boozing at the ground. No bells and whistles. Just a decent bar and a bit of shelter. Everyone goes there for the pre-match liveners instead of the Grey Mare, the Greyhound, the Rifle etc. Away fans only in the Chaddy. (There's plenty of space in the RRE for the quiet ones to avoid the singing sweary ones.) Standing in the Lees Stand Paddock (if the regulations aren't as tight as people make out). Some sort of national campaign against the ban on boozing in the stands of non-greedy league grounds. Common sense from Mr Tulsehill and you can quote me on that.
