HarryBosch
The commentator said v Sheff Weds that Bembo Leta had met him having a kick about in the street back in the Congo while on holiday there. I thought I'd read the kickabout in question took place on the mean streets of Stalybridge. Can anyone clarify?
Crusoe
"Um Bongo, Um Bongo, they drink it in the Stalybridge" just doesn't have the same ring to it. Now that I think about it, how racist was that advert?

longtimeblue
They still haven't released Um Bongleton for people who live in Congleton yet..
jimsleftfoot
Um Bongo, Um Bongo, they drink it in the Congo!!! What's racist about that? I'm sure it was never meant to be racist, but the tune/advert plays on a stereotype.
Roger Ritchie
I'm sure it was never meant to be racist, but the tune/advert plays on a stereotype. I know what you mean. It isn't on. Making out like everyone in the Congo drinks fruit based drinks. What next everyone in Cuba owns a Hoover?
philliggi
In Peru drink Iron Bru?
opinions4u
I know what you mean. It isn't on. Making out like everyone in the Congo drinks fruit based drinks. If there is fruit in the original version of Um Bongo I'll show my arse in Spindles! EDIT: Having researched the ingredients online, I discover that the drink is now 100% fruit juice. I have therefore added the italics!
Crusoe
Didn't they also use unhygienic slave labour? I vaguely recall something about the lion picking mandarins or something. Would you want a lion-drool-sheened mandarin? Should be on Watchdog.
