opinions4u
So with Taylor, Lee and Morais all (allegedly) gone, and a feeling that we're week at left back, is there a case for narrowing the Boundary Park pitch? At present it's 74 yards wide iirc. The rules of the game say it should be between 50 and 100 yards wide. Any thoughts?

Latics_Fanatic
50 yards?! that's tiny!
LaticMark
Champions League teams seem to have a pitch width no wider than 68 yards. If it's good enough for them . . .
leeslover
Wouldn't having a right footer on the left not point towards wanting a narrower pitch, a la Arsenal when they were good?
pk200
Leave the pitch alone ....it's the players on it that count !!
Latics_Fanatic
According to the rules we could have a pitch 100 yards x 100 yards - that would be weird, didn't realise square pitches were allowed..
opinions4u
Are you allowed to change it game to game? or has it got to be set for season. No idea. Stoke had to widen theirs for European games where different dimensions apply. Note the link below refers to metres not yards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_stadium_categories Edited May 27, 2012 by opinions4u

philliggi
has to be declared at start of season. the narrower the pitch the better your players need to be at detailed intricate passing. can you really see us playing like barca next year? Twisbrogan
It was often said that the biggest advantage that the plastic pitch offered us was the fact that it got into the minds of opposition players before a ball was kicked. They knew they'd have to prepare in a different way and ready themselves to face a different set of problems. Is there any fineprint or loophole that we could exploit to make the pitch triangular? Other league one teams could then be free to sign whichever tricky wingers or overlapping full-backs they like, they wouldn't have anywhere to go at BP. Roger Ritchie
We should just chuck a few tiger pits in there.
LaticsLegend
Not being funny but we should be able to replace these players, and not have to think about something as extreme as changing the size of the pitch. These same 3 players were in a team that was nearly in a relegation scrap, hardly irreplaceable.
Microcuts
Didn't we narrow the pitch in Moore's first full season? To aid the Rob Scott long throw I seem to remember. Whether it was successful overall is up for debate.
