Bristolatic
Could have been worth a punt (as is said on here) http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/18581457 I just love your sense of humour, Pete. The thought of 50p head coming back brought me out in a mixture of cold sweat and uncontrollable laughter.

oafcprozac
"….Branston joined Peterborough on 24 July 2006, from Oldham Athletic, after wanting to move closers to home.[1] He had impressed for Peterborough in two previous loan spells where he proved to be a leader and as a result was given the captain's armband.[2] After just one season though, he fell out of favour, and was loaned to both Rochdale and Northampton Town,[3] before being released from his contract on 13 December 2007. He signed for Notts County on 1 January 2008, for one month - playing only half a game by virtue of being a carthorse journeyman.[4]…" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Branston

Stevie_J
Not sure I ever really understood why Branston was (and remains) such a figure of derision amongst Latics fans. We've had far worse players.
philliggi
Not sure I ever really understood why Branston was (and remains) such a figure of derision amongst Latics fans. We've had far worse players. He Epitomized everything that was wrong with the club under Talbot Incidently, this made quite interesting reading. who would have thought it. Talbot in the champions league!! to a goal from Scott Vernon. But results in the League were not the same following a defeat to Bolton Wanderers the club went on a 10 match losing streak which led to him resigning at the end of February 2005 following a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Bristol City. In May 2005 he signed a two-year contract as manager of Oxford United before the final game of the 2004–05 season.[3] However, after an unsuccessful stint in charge, Talbot was sacked in March 2006, leaving the club 22nd in League Two and destined to lose their League status at the end of the season.[4] Talbot made a quick return to management with Maltese side Marsaxlokk, and guided them to the domestic league title and a place in the UEFA Champions League. Following a disappointing start to the 2008–09 season, Marsaxlokk appointed former Msida Saint-Joseph manager Patrick Curmi as the club's new head coach on 17 December 2008. Talbot, however, remained with the club until early 2011, after he took over the Technical Director role. In February 2011, he joined English Premier League side Fulham as a scout. Talbot mostly watches matches in the top leagues for the London club, for example in France or Germany.[5] Edited June 26, 2012 by philliggi
