BP1960
In all my 50+ years of watching the Latics (and some poor teams) I have never felt as depressed as after the final whistle last night. Ok they didn't lose, but I think the realisation hit me I have probably wasted my money on a season ticket - with the expectation of more of this turgid backwards/sideways football to come. I am fed up with the lack of penalty area action and lightweight players easily muscled off the ball, some may say you need money to change things, but you don't need money to entertain, this all down to the rigid tactics employed by the manger who refuses to alter his system despite it being rumbled by every club manager in the league. The players don't look to be enjoying themselves either, with full backs hardly crossing the halfway line, wingers regimented to 'tuck in', miidfielders going nowhere and non existent strikers. I don't think it's just me as there were many angry fans last night frustrated by the same old on the field failings. Home matches now hold the prospect of a draw at best. I don't think I could give my season ticket away though as I might be prosecuted for cruelty to other fans. Rant over (till the next home match). 4froale
it pains me to think that everybody apart from dickov knows that this team is not good enough. We have sweet f*ck all on the bench and therefore have no plan B, Too many players out and not enough players in, a minimum of three needed at least and even then that may not be enough. Things need to improve.
Snookmeister
I was just about to start a similar thread. The difference with me being, that I reached the point of regretting my ST about two seasons ago, and have not had one since. I've not been to any games yet this year, and I'm currently on holiday, so won't even have the option until after Donny away. But after last night, which I listened to on LP, I'm wondering if I'll get the urge to go to any games at all!! As others have said, feels like a defeat. Walsall at home is as much of a home banker as you could get, and we can't even get that right. From the sounds of it, it's the same old problems we've been seeing for years and NOTHING ever changes. I didn't even go and I'm depressed about it..... It gives me no pleasure at all to say this, but maybe I'll make a few away games for the banter, but I can't see myself braving the Boundary bomb site anytime soon......... beag_teeets
If you are going to slit your wrists remember that it is more effective to do it length ways rather than the more intuitive across the wrist. Long deep cuts get results. Young team with their outlets not fully match fit let slip a slender lead with a careless ball from the captain. Thank God it wasn't Tarky that made that backpass. Latics_Fanatic
You know it's getting bad when many long time fans are contemplating not going to games.. Haven't got a ST and glad i didn't go last night, i'll be there on Saturday though - hoping, wishing we can pull sonething out the bag and it won't be another depressing Saturday afternoon! I came into the season full of optimism, but that shambles left me depressed. I can take a draw, hell I can take s defeat at home, but I can't take performances like that. Passing like a pub team, too scared to cross the half way line. We get the ball in defence see an opposition player closing down and think :censored:! Either pass it back or across the defence. It's rubbish.

bossrocks
Its only 2 league games in so I'm not chucking the ST yet but yesterday was far more disappointing than the Sheff W or MK Dons defeats. The most worrying thing for me was the indifference I felt last night. Wasn't even angry or frustrated. It just seemed inevitible. I've not been like this since DP. footy68
The annoyance for me this season and last is that the team have shown they can attack the opposition, only to show how inept and useless they can be when playing a more mediocre opposition. I don't think I could give my season ticket away though as I might be prosecuted for cruelty to other fans. Rant over (till the next home match). This sums up my feelings (and I suspect those of many others). Whilst we still must be patient and accept that with three competitive matches played it is still too early to judge, there is a nagging feeling that we are already shaping up like relegation material. Once again players who have been lauded by the manager appear to be hesitant and lacking in technique and confidence. I do not like the way we have set ourselves up to play so far this season as it appears one dimensional and certainly does not set the pulses racing in any way. As I said following the MK Dons game - where is the blistering pace that Montano and Slew supposedly posess? With the recent misspelling of Anderson's name at Everton, there is an easy typo waiting for Mr Slew methinks. And let's be honest - Croft appears to be carrying too much timber - and where are the penetrating crosses that he is famed for - darned I can spot 'em. Time for a radical rethink in playing style - time for one or two to step up. To quote PD: '“Maybe I told a few home truths after the game that the players are at this level for a reason. Collectively in the second half we weren’t good enough.” Collectively includes the management team as well I presume? Maybe it is time to try Brown at fullback and Winchester in the middle of the park? It can only get better... can't it?
BP1960
I'm feeling a lot better now after a specialist prescribed some happy clapper pills, I have been told to take 2 an hour before each home match and they will last for up to 4 hours, this will prevent me from posting any immediate negative comments on OWTB. Unfortunately, they are very costly and are not available from the NHS. Fans already using them say there can be drastic side effects such as 6 - 0 win hallucinations, but these usually disappear after watching a few games. So its Latics 6 Stevenage 0 on Saturday, I'm sure of that. Edited August 22, 2012 by BP1960
Keepingthe Faith
I think one of the problems is, that when new players are brought into the club, they tend to get in the team straight away. With no winning or earning the shirt. The players who went on the training camp to Portugal and played in the pre-season friendlies, didn't do anything wrong enough to justify being dropped, so any feel-good factor gained from the team building exercise is lost and turned into a negative for those players that are cast aside. The incoming players coast because they believe that the shirt is theirs and don't need to perform at the top of their ability to firstly win it and then keep it. BP1960
Well having read all this I am off to throw myself into a raging river....40tons a second apparently........from the rocks. Big rocks. It has to be better than watching a latics corner. Its how you cope with being a latics supporter. I even get a certificate for doing it...... and can then rescue fellow supporters from the rapids. ..... And I thought I was the only one certified.
