madlatic
Repotedly being released by Leicester , given the Dickov Taggart conections would a cheeky enquiry be in order , would be fantastic having him pulling the strings behind Baxter n whoever. opinions4u
Wouldn't surprise me to see it happen. Although I don't expect Baxter to stay ... but you never know!

Tommy_Fent
IMO the team is lacking a leader in there, I'm not a fan of players coming back but I'd love to see Wellens in a Latics shirt again
laticdickovarmy
Dear Santa, Please on xmas day drop Richie Wellens off at latics on your way delivering presents, oh and a few ££ to secure the deal for Baxter until the end of the season. Yours faithfully, Dean
Laticacid
No chance then, i would have said the same about derbyshire......
NewBlue
I wouldn't be surprised. Dickov's best attribute is his persuasion and signings. He's brought in some coups over the past few years so this deal, for a 32 year-old isn't beyond the realms of possibility. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I trust Dickov in the transfer market.
jbrown23
I don't know if we could keep Furman, Wes and then accommodate Wellens as well on our budget and at our current level. To me, they're all similar players and I don't know if any would want to play second fiddle to the others, and we have Changy for back up anyway. If one of the others were to go then I think this could really happen.
Lags
Does anyone know whether Latics received compensation from SA for the time Furman is away on Africa Nations cup?
Laticacid
furman and wesolowski are not similair players to wellens in the slightest

Can't imagne why we should - sign overseas players and this is a risk you take.

oafc1955
I think a move back to Doncaster would be more likely or Forest where O'Driscoll is manager.
brad
I don't care what age wellens is I'd still have him back here best midfielder we have had in a very long time

Laticacid
i really liked whitaker for a month, then spent the next 9 despising the work shy, scared of his own shadow, no passion, no pride in the shirt little rat. so, yep he d fit right into this squad!! laticdickovarmy
Furman and Wes aint in the same league as the old Wellens, that said I have seen him play for a few years
rudemedic
Does anyone know whether Latics received compensation from SA for the time Furman is away on Africa Nations cup? As he hasn't been called up yet, unlikely. In the likely event he gets called up we might, but Africa football may not be able to afford compensation to the same sort of levels as European football. Otherwise, the Togo incident at a previous tournament wouldn't have happened.
deyres42
Dream land Why? Enjoyed his time here by all accounts, strikes me as a bloke who wants to be playing games rather picking up a wage. Sure there will be plenty of interest in him but would like to think we'd be in there pitching.

Sure there will be plenty of interest in him but would like to think we'd be in there pitching. 1.) It's a rumour 2.) He left us to go to Donny for more money in this division when we had a lot more money than we do now. If he really enjoyed it here and wanted to stay despite better offers he could have done. 3.) When he left here he hadn't played in the Championship and shown his class at that level. 4.) When he came he would have probably still been Manchester based- it's unlikely he is now. 5.) OK so he enjoyed it here and his Dad is still probably hanging around Middy pubs but we are a completely different team than we were when he left. 6.) How do you know he got on with Taggart (+ Dickov) when they were at Leicester together? 7.) Yes, we'd be daft not to offer him a deal but he'd be daft to take it considering the better offers from richer and higher placed clubs. Points 2-7 don't matter if it's nonsense made up by someone to see how far it goes- have the schools broken up? As a few people have previous for that on here. Gaz_Oafc
Would he come back after the abuse he got on his return to BP with Donny?
