ghostofcecere
All this talk of our captain moving on has got me thinking. Who has been our greatest captain? I've been watching regularly since the mid 80's and have seen a fair few come and go, but one or two stand out. You could make a good argument for Mike Milligan at the start of the 'pinch me' era or in recent years someone like Sean Gregan. But for me, I think it has to be Lee Duxbury. He was always there when the chips were down

Tommy_Fent
Gregan, the man single-handedly kept us up in 2010. IMO One of Dickov's biggest mistakes was letting him go
Lukers1
George Hardwick. Darren McDonnagh Mike Milligan Earl Barratt Lee Dux David Eyres Ive probably missed more legends out, the above just didnt need thinking about.

Lee Sinnott
Duxbury or Gregan. Special mention for Garnett who, despite not having the armband on a regular basis, was a leader amongst men.
GlossopLatic
I thought gregan was a better captain than dux liked both but feel gregans influence was bigger and more important
Gentleman
Dux Give it Tarky next season Has Tarky got a deal for next year? Certainly vocal enough andI like the idea of a captain that's homegrown.
rudemedic
Duxbury for me, slightly ahead of Milligan and Gregan. Duxbury grabbed a team a lot worse than this one by the scruff of the neck and dragged it away from the drop zone. Gregan was magnificent in Dangerous Dave's season but he was probably part of the problem in Shez's last season. Milligan had the advantage of playing with a very good Latics side who were probably a good 10 or 15 places better than their league position suggested in the double cup run year. rudemedic
Duxbury or Gregan. Special mention for Garnett who, despite not having the armband on a regular basis, was a leader amongst men. Indeed and Garnett was probably one of the main reasons why Duxbury was such a good captain.
longtimeblue
Really don't remember Dux with as much fondness as most on here. Say Earl just because of what he achieved in when captain.
deyres42
If we are still in this league next season then I don't want Tarkowski in the team let alone captaining it.

stargazer
Wasn't here for long but Kevin Moore was a 'proper' captain , hard tackler , always organising & shouting. Most of them simply shake hands and guess heads or tails imo.
