Forte_Baby
http://www1.skysport.../11710/8719220/ Looks like there defo wont be at the Ricoh next season and want to build there own ground. I doubt Coventry Council will want to help them build another in rush, unless they move to Nuneaton or Rugby. Sounds there be ground sharing at Walsall i have heard Birmingham City mentioned which is a new ground for me. Sounds like the Nene Park idea is dead and buried now. Bristolatic
And they're going to have in built in three years. Where's the money coming from?

longtimeblue
Always seemed an unnecessary move. Not as if Highfield Road was falling to bits.

piglinbland
I hope they do move and the Ricoh becomes a white elephant. Serves the owners right for charging extortionate rent.
OneSizeFitz
The whole situation's a complete farce. Edited May 18, 2013 by OneSizeFitz

the_mighty_bosh
From the little I know of the situation, the people in charge of the club don't seem trustworthy at all. The rate of the rent they pay seems extortionate compared to most clubs, but that's what the club agreed to pay in the first place so they shouldn't be allowed to not pay it for over a year. SholverBlue
I miss the old grounds. Tin roofs, terraces and wooden seating areas. Perfection. The Ricoh quite frankly is a dull ground. I bet Nuneaton/Cov rugger will be areet?

Brightons new ground is the best in the FL imo
24hoursfromtulsehill
I can't be arsed to read up on the shenanigans. Too depressing for one thing. Is this a fair summary? The Ricoh is owned by people who provide not entertainment, but a venue for entertainment. Coventry City pay rent (or not) to use this facility from the proceeds of their 23 guaranteed home gigs every year. (This model has been used before. Unbelievably, the FA used to rent Wembley from Wembley plc for England games and cup finals. The Football League rented it for the League Cup final.) jsslatic
I quite liked the Ricoh, when the fans wanted they could get a bit of a noise going even though it was sparsely populated (compared to its capacity). As ever, the owners play silly buggers with the finances and it's the fans who suffered. Coventry still haven't finished higher than 7th in whatever division they've competed in since 1970 (that includes 7th once, and 8th twice). Jesus. LaticsPete
I thought it was strange how they misspelt Bruce Rioch's name and then never corrected it.
Crusoe
Hah. Twitter's agog with this picture of the Ricoh "on fire" tonight: Only a few voices pointing out it's a pyrotechnic warm-up for a Muse gig...
GlossopLatic
I think Coventry is an example of where a new stadium can go wrong especially when its owned by a 3rd party with no interest in the tennents well being, infact 3rd part ownership of the ground can be partly to blame for Stockports predicament. oafc-latics
says a lot that the fire story could be believable... if Coventry move out, the stadium owners are left with something that won't make any money for 90% of the year

There's a hotel, casino, business facilities there even without the tennis, sport and concerts that they host. I'd lay odds the 23 games reduced rent that Coventry can afford/are willing to pay won't come close to the amount they'll pull in from having Muse and Springsteen there over the summer. Not saying Coventry City wouldn't be useful to the holdings company that own the ground but I don't think the ground owners will be that likely to blink first. It may do far more damage to CCFC to move to Walsall or Birmingham whilst this mess is sorted. Shame because, as pointed out above, I quite liked the Ricoh. Diego_Sideburns
Coventry City have confirmed tonight that the club will ground-share for three years until their new stadium is built. They are looking at three clubs, with which to ground-share, but the Football League is preventing them from announcing which ground they will share until they come out of Administration. al_bro
Walsall Nene Park Leicester Maybe? Nene Park is nowhere near big enough for them with a capacity of 6441. Walsall also is probably too small with a capacity of 10989. They don't want to lose fans, or income. Birmingham would be an option, even Wolves or Milton Keynes. As it's not in their website, who's headline is about a fan of theirs going to Burkina Faso's capital with some of their shirts. (Comparing that to ours?) Is it definitely a football club? As I'd think Welford Road and Franklins Gardens wouldn't be out of the question.
