pseudonym
Just for the record Curzon Ashton reached the 2nd Proper of FACup 4 years ago beating Exeter City. The year before their Youth team reached the second round proper of the FA youth beating Chesterfield before losing 3 -2 to Macclesfield.....the scorer of their 2 goals one Will Buckley....playing for Curzon having been rejected by Latics at 15 years old and sold to Brighton for £1 million Not a pub team and very nice stadium too

We're doing ths same, surprised anyone is opposed to the friendly.
oafcprozac
Buckley was at Dale first before being sold to Watford. Tough decision on deciding whether to keep 15 year olds or not still so much to develop in ability, physique & attitude... -

Tommy_Fent
Does Curzon Ashton have a decent bar/supporters club? Are there any decent pubs nearby? If either answer is Yes than that is all you want from a pre-season friendly. It's an excuse for fans to have a piss-up. I know it's probably only the Youth team but Glossop has plenty of decent boozers, The Friendship, The Oakwood, The Grapes etc
Bristolatic
Its the March Hare on Crowehill Rd That rings a vague bell. I worked on Rose Hill Road in the early 1960s. Isn't it in the same area? I can't get there for the game so just curious.

LaticsPete
Curzon Ashton was formed in 1963 after the merger of two clubs, Curzon Road F.C. and Ashton Amateurs F.C., who played in the Manchester Amateur Football League. The amalgamated club's name was originally Curzon Amateurs before being changed to the current name Edited June 18, 2013 by LaticsPete

KYLEOAFC
This ground is great! As an Ashtonian I have been here numerous times both to watch Curzon and at various functions. The Bar & Bar staff in the mainstand are great you can walk around the ground when in etc and there is an excellent choice of covered standing at one side & seating at the other with uncovered terraces behind the goal. Nearest pub is The March hare on Crowhill road but you are a 10 -15 minute walk from the centre of Ashton along lord Sheldon way & Richmond street and a 10 minute walk from the retail park Ashton moss Tavern, Nandos etc. Plenty of parking at the ground more than ample for this game with loads of street parking across the field which the ground backs onto if needed. If Driving from Oldham go down Ashton road then Taunton road then knowle avenue to the ground rather than the town centre way past ikea sainsburys & M&S etc Traffic is a bit of an arse town centre sometimes especially since the new M&S opened & Ikea.
