Fervid
Does anyone know when the lads are due back for pre season training?

Diego_Sideburns
I believe it's later this week, because Sid, the Dutchie on the right-hand side, said on 18th June: "I cannot wait to report for training next week...".

singe
27th, 28th June back for VO2 max testing Out of interest, for those technically in the know, what does VO2 testing show that a run up Tandle Hills doesn't?Not that I am old school, just curious. Lags
Should have entered the squad in the Oldham 10K yesterday. Good for ealy doors training and good for PR around the town. Maybe next year Latics?

Despite every amateur team doing it, road running is about the worst possible training exercise a footballer can do.....ask Butler

slystallone
Out of interest, for those technically in the know, what does VO2 testing show that a run up Tandle Hills doesn't? Not that I am old school, just curious. Its a measure of the bodies ability to transport and then use Oxygen whilst exercising. Getting someone on a treadmill or cycle ergometer and increasing the workload incrementally; you then test their aerobic capacity. Basically, you get a definitive result, which i would guess will then continue to be tested to assess any changes to their latent overall fitness throughout pre-season and into the season. You don't get a real result or anything tangible from running up hills; other than 'you did it' or 'he did it faster'. That's basically it really. Diego_Sideburns
http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-features/10/oldham-athletic-news/81121/boxing-clever “The players will be worked but not killed,” said Johnson, who says boxing and swimming sessions will come before breakfast and be followed by outdoor work, lunch and technical exercises." BP1960
Boxing is not ideal preparation IMO. Hope no one hits Tarky on the nose, or Wesolowski dislocates his shoulder again throwing an haymaker. Edited June 28, 2013 by BP1960
