oafcprozac
Cook rightly with 10 1/2 sessions left wants to bat them out of the Test Match - hopefully it'll be the right call....
dave_ragg1984
England are batting, may bite us on the arse Bat long. Tire the Aussies out. Give our bowlers a rest. Bat them out of the game, and then bowl out a tired team. It does make sense. Hopefully some of our out of form batsmen can get scores. Putting them in again and trying to beat them by an innings sounded very tempting though.
footy68
Listening to the experts, they also the pitch is rapidly breaking up. That does make sense.

oafcprozac
We've decided to make it interesting, Cook's failed again which is a worry, however I think another 150 or so and we've batted the convicts out of the game….
leeslover
Is that because he was in the team in 2005? - It helps. i am keeping KP and bell from the England 2005. Cook in for either opener, Trott in for Vaughan, Prior in for G Jones, Anderson for Hoggard and i would toss a coin to decide between Swann and Giles. leeslover
Kp has been dire he needs a massive kick up the arse He batted very well for his 60 in the first test after a long time injured. He makes himself an easy target at times but i wouldnt be after him just now

You'd have to keep one of Strauss or Vaughan for the captaincy as they were both great at it.

I must sharpen up my irony skills - although Giles was actually decent when allowed to attack. I think Vaughan was in the right place at the right time as captain, and is actually a prick on an epic scale

I wasn't sure if you had some kind of soft spot for the King of Spain and wanted to keep him for his Trent Bridge batting exploits. Stranger things have happened. footy68
A whole session with no wickets. Hmm so it was your fault?
opinions4u
Century for Root. 179 for 4, well over 400 ahead.
opinions4u
488 ahead. 6 wickets in hand. 2 and a bit days left. When would you declare?
leeslover
I would tell root he has 20 minutes to get to
Zorrro
I thought he might have declared an hour before stumps to see if we could grab a cheeky wicket or two. As it stands, have an hour/Root 200 and then get them in.
Lookers_Carl
Does anyone think the Aussies may then just play for the draw?
pukka
I thought he might have declared an hour before stumps to see if we could grab a cheeky wicket or two. As it stands, have an hour/Root 200 and then get them in. Let root get 200, then say "swing the bat and we declare as soon as 1 of you is out - or at 12:30". If root goes - declare straight away. I wouldn't have broad coming in, even if Root is on 199. Can't risk him getting a whack on the hand.
leeslover
Does anyone think the Aussies may then just play for the draw?I'd imagine they would anyway. short of Pup scoring 400 against Anderson + Swann on a crumbling pitch i think we should be ok
opinions4u
Aussie chasing 583. 24-1 as Anderson removes Watson.

opinions4u
I was hoping it would be all over by tea. Rooty has probably just ensured today will be the final day of this test match. Fingers crossed we'll wrap up The Ashes at about 5.50pm on the Sunday of the Old Trafford test.
