oafcprozac
As Wigan have pulled out we've obviously had to scrape around for opposition, a Home Friendly against non-league opposition is hardly going to bring the punters in but it could be useful in terms of letting the attacking players run riot. If the club handle this properly there's a chance to make it an enjoyable afternoon. Go ahead with the kit launch Do a family ticket for a tenner Get the school of excellence teams to play before the game against teams from Macc or similar if local Face Painting Raffle Give away signed team posters etc.... Mascot Derby at HT Penalty Shoot Out if the game ends in a draw Get The Revolution on board Basically turn the fact we've ended up with a pretty uninspiring fixture into a family fun day... oafcprozac
Tbh this sort of thing imo would be more accessible for most fans and their families (especially those with nippers) than trekking over to The Village Hotel for the Trust Meet and Greet with LJ and the Players, £15 is a bit steep imo when similar events have been half that.... Frankly Mr Shankly
You're probably right Prozac. But from a selfish point of view, it's hard enough to be bothered about playing Wigan Athletic than Macclesfield. Shouldn't OAFC be doing all this :censored: EVERY home match rather than specialist family fun days every now and again?

lookersstandandy
I went to Wycombe away season before last, and they had a big family day set up in the car park - which is smaller than ours - and all the kids were kitted out in Wycombe gear, both parents, grandparents were there. It looked a cracking day out for families and made me wonder why we don't do something similar for what we expect to be a poorly attended Saturday league fixture! Barry, if you're reading this thread, lets get that Mechanical Bull Peter Kay used on Pheonix nights!!! I quote, "it'll be sh1tting money". lookersstandandy
We did it the season before last. Where was I then? What game? Was it a success?
Twisbrogan
Where was I then? What game? Was it a success? It was against someone like Wycombe or Stevenage with games & races on Little Wembley, penalty shoot-outs, fire engines, face-painting, stalls, etc but despite being pretty well promoted in the lead up there wasn't a huge turnout. Seemed to be predominantly the same people that turn up to Boundary Blues events. They were actively collecting email addresses from attendees so they'll have a good idea about whether it was a success or not.

By virtue of the fact we haven't repeated it I assume it wasn't a success. That's a real shame. Although, I still can't recall it.
iamjonesyyoafc
wasn't it down in the corner of the car park where hardly anyone goes? probably why more didn't go and have a look.
