Aarondo Westy
Got to feel for the fans!! Shows that we are lucky to have the owners we have although I've been critical in the past, this summer has changed all that very grateful to mr.corney Edited August 2, 2013 by Aarondo Westy
Latics_Fanatic
Only one of the companies under the "Coventry City" banner has gone. So, the club can stay as it is at the moment but a points deduction between 15-30 points is now going to be applied.
sjk2008
Surely relogation beckons with such a mammoth points deduction in tow?
Stagger Lee
Sad breaking news Coventry City FC Ltd to be liquidated Coventry City Football Club Ltd are to be liquidated after a Company Voluntary Agreement was rejected at a creditors' meeting in London. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23548760
Lookers_Carl
Feel for their fans big time. Stinks to see them go under and Portsmouth essentially get away with it. But as harsh as it sounds, something like this needed to happen. For too long, as close to the wire as some league clubs (including ourselves) have whistled, they have survived, and I would say to a certain extent this has caused complacency with some fans of these respective clubs who take the attitude of "someone will save us, someone always comes along". With a club the size of Coventry being liquidated, maybe this will be the wake up call some fans need. Just a crying shame it had to be Coventry, and not Portsmouth or a Prem club. It's a subsidiary company. Coventry FC hasn't been liquidated (golden share is owned by Coventry holdings or something), it's Coventry FC LTD that have been liquidated. Still means they lose min 15 points but they'll play tomorrow.

blueatheart
Ah rite fair enoughTo be honest though we need a club to go. 23 team league and the FA/FL having to dick around with promotions/relegations to get it to 22 or 24 teams. Too long has this farce of unfit owners and administration gone on.
c.hill12
I've just read that because they're in liquidation and it's a company related to them, it's illegal to pay anything else out including wages. Is that true? If so they are well and truly buggered!

youngen
Might make the FA do a realistic 'fit and proper' test. Its an embarassment whats happened at Coventry and the way the stadium owners and club owners have gone about business. What effectively is an 'Im taking my ball and going home scenario' has turned into potentially the end of a football club, and the fans are left with nothing and can do nothing about it. Greedy owners across the board of football
pukka
If they go bust, I presume only 3 will go down from league one?
AnthonyOAFC
Heard on SSN that the points deduction could be 10 or as much as 20 or 30. Edited August 2, 2013 by AnthonyOAFC

Greedy owners across the board of football Agreed, but was it as simple as 'greedy owners' with Coventry though? I thought that was more about an argument over unpaid rent. c.hill12
This is more mismanagement of a large club. Who sanctions a deal to pay rent of upwards of £1m a year when clubs in similar situations pay rent of around £100k? They also give away rights to food sales etc! jsslatic
They're bollocksed. Listening on 5 Live the other night. Points deduction, no players signed, 210 ST holders so no income, and if they're not out of admin by end of August they'll have to play the first half of the season with only the paper thin squad they have and free agents. Even if they came through and went back to the Ricoh they're still tenants with no connection to those who own the land. A sad sad situation and as ever it's the supporters who suffer. rudemedic
That's one relegation place sorted then. They had 10 points taken off them last season and still finished comfortably above us. The deduction means that they aren't going to be challenging, but they could do a Leeds and get off to a flyer.
