stevesidg
League One side Preston North End sign former Bolton and England striker Kevin Davies on a two-year contract
razza699
Good signing for them, although they have had to move a few players on so I suspect he is taking a big chunk of their wage bill.
oafcprozac
Good signing if they can get the runners beyond his flick ons and hold up play....
4froale
apparently iain hume is on over 5k and he doesn't even feature in graysons plans, id imagine if they moving him on will free up the budget for davies Edited July 10, 2013 by 4froale
pukka
very good signing at this level
ShakerT
What a Great signing, I think Preston are trying to offload Hume due to his wages, although he is back training with them
jsslatic
Preston will go up this year. Obvious as soon as they appointed Grayson.
Stevie_J
Brilliant signing. Surprised that he's dropped down to this level.
deyres42
Peter Beagrie and the Sky boys will be jizzing themselves over this. In reality he is a striker who doesn't score goals whose legs went years ago, Preston have been had over.
Lags
Peter Beagrie and the Sky boys will be jizzing themselves over this. In reality he is a striker who doesn't score goals whose legs went years ago, Preston have been had over. Never had blistering pace over the first ten yards. Depends on how well his team mates utilise his hold up play. I don't think he'll bag more than ten.

oafcprozac
Another Kuqi type signing, possibly without the goals. Used to playing 30 odd games a year - 46 games + cups + possible play offs, legs started to go a good few years ago. I think he'll mainly be an impact sub. But still a very good signing... Forte_Baby
Good signing fact he has dropped to league one shows to me he wants to continue to keep on playing as long as he wants.
rudemedic
Good signing but it depends how much money he is on. If he's on a fair chunk of cash and his legs go, then it may be a bad signing. Cliff Byrne is going to get his shorts with the large pocket in them out for 9th September.
Roger Ritchie
Might be a possibility of a coaching role alongside his playing.
PlayItLivo
Steve Howard never had blistering pace but was very effective in this league.
the_mighty_bosh
This is a good signing but regardless of it I expect Preston to be challenging for automatic.
alex_balls
Great signing at this level, Davies could have still cut it at Notlob for another 12 months. It's the players around him that are the key as other posters have alluded to. Just had a quick look at PNE's squad and they're not all that tbh. The positives are Davies and Larry, who has managed to get Blackpool, Leeds and Huddersfield promoted out of this division. I think they'll be up there, but not quite good enough, top 10 finish for me. Still believe Wolves will steamroll this division. I know big clubs like Leeds, both the Sheffield clubs and many more have struggled to get out, but Wolves should be a different class. Also, they've just signed Sam Ricketts and Leigh Griffiths who's record suggests he will score goals.

Davies will be effective from set pieces, will be there to knock them in. Good signing.

oafc-latics
Steve Howard never had blistering pace but was very effective in this league. Was he? According to Hartlepool fans he was :censored:e. They're only half decent run last season was when he was injured. Davies is a great signing though, if Grayson uses him well he'll be very effective. When he played for Luton and Leicester he was more effective - I'd have him as past it now, even though he moved back up to the Championship last season.
