petelatics
I reckon the guy who is the face and voice of Oldham Athletic on match days should 1. Remember to have a shave 2. Have a suit that fits 3. Fasten the top button of your shirt so that the tie looks as it should That's enough to go on with.

beag_teeets
Read the teams out as often as possible, and the subs. Do birthday/anniversary/first adult tooth announcements and let people know how they can get these done. Results from early kick offs, other sporting events that have happened that day. Corporate messages, if the commercial team can flog the airtime then flog it and get stuff read out and earn the club money. As has been said, the music should be as far from chart hits as possible. Look around BP on a match day and you stare into the faces of grim old curmudgeons who have no interest in hearing Lady Gaga's latest or whatever "the music played at BP is provided by HMV" want to provide you with. Take a look at the "What are you listening to" thread in this board and there is a wide range of music being listened to by Latics fans, probably about 10 songs on there would have been provided by HMV. But you won't get complaints if you stick to stuff from Oldham bands, 90s indie or anything that is a stone cold classic that you can tap your foot too whilst waiting for the match to start. pukka
Music is a funny one. You can't please everyone. A variety is needed. That also means different tunes every game / few games.

They probably pay for generic batches for multiple events. Doubt we can afford to be too picky

The new PA announcer is not going to get much of a say for a bit I reckon.
beag_teeets
But but HMV could supply better music? They've been supplying the music at BP for as long as I can remember, surely some of the old ones are still in license? Works at Rochdale, they have decent music. Or at least not as bad as it has been at BP.

beag_teeets
To be fair, tonight reminded me that I generally rock up at BP about 3 minutes before kick off on a good day, was even later today so it really doesn't matter what the PA person does as I won't be there. Just read the teams out just before kick off so I can hear it as I'm walking in to the game. At half time, keep up reading the results out, do the birthdays again, keeps them happy and anything else that could raise money for the club, I don't really listen to it at half time either as I'm usually chatting about stuff and not really paying attention.
