palmer1
10 mins into a new season at Bramall lane and a "bigger" team already has a decision. Shocking red for Lidell of Notts County when the ref could have used his brain and either talked to him or at worst a yellow! 10 mins into a new season ffs Is this again the standard we have to look forward too? NewBlue
Ever since Woolmer last season I'm convinced Sheffield United buy the referees in this league. The fortune they get with decisions is uncanny.
Latics_Fanatic
First Game, also on television. The referee will have to get everything right and to the letter of the law. Also tougher sanctions for referees this season!
PlayItLivo
Whacked £100 on it at evens. Correct decision that. His leg was very high and he caught the player flush
AnthonyOAFC
Would of thought Notts would of taken a few more in attendance. Porter just missed a sitter. HA! Porter just could of had another. Edited August 2, 2013 by AnthonyOAFC

LeylandLatic
2-1 now, just gone back ahead from a freekick - didn't look like a freekick at all :/
AnthonyOAFC
Don't know how that was a Free Kick to Sheff Utd leading to the 2nd Sheff goal. Edited August 2, 2013 by AnthonyOAFC
palmer1
He got his foot on the ball first, his foot was high but he was going for the ball but not great I agree however 10 minutes into a new season he could have used some common sense spoken to him and booked him. There will be worse incidents around the country tomorrow that won't see red. Edited August 2, 2013 by palmer1

Looking good for us this season then,,,
Lags
In fairness I can see why the red. Shame for the lad but his foot was high even though he touched the ball first. Lets see if they appeal, they wont win if they do. As for the free kick which leads to the goal....WTF?
BP1960
To be honest Sheffield United looked a decent footballing team and played how LJ wants the Latics to play,
MaskedOwl
It's a red all day long. Correct decision.
alex_balls
That Sheff U game at home last season was disgraceful in terms of a refereeing display, still can't believe some of the decisions that went their way...
Alec1954
It was a clear red. Foot flat into his ribs. The defender did not complain. QED.
petelatics
Didn't see the game but your question was 'is this the standard we can look forward to?' Well, as a season ticket holder I can count on one hand the number of decent official we have had. The refs and there assistants are normally dreadful and I see no reason to expect better. Enjoy the season!

Lookers_Carl
To be honest Sheffield United looked a decent footballing team and played how LJ wants the Latics to play, They had some big bastards playing for them though !!! Best feed Tarky and Mellor some protein shakes and get em in the weights room for a bit before we play sheff u
BlueJazzer
Just seen it! How can anyone think that isn't a red card? Studs up, straight into the ribs? Red all day! That would have taken Wes or LJ's head off!
