pinevillawill
Paul Black has signed for Carlisle having signed for Mansfield only a handful of weeks ago. He was told by Mansfield's manager that he wouldn't be the first choice left back. Mansfield's manager said he wouldn't stand in his way if another club came in for him Could well see him play against the mighty Latics in the not-so-distant future.. longtimeblue
i thought he was a decent player when he was at latics, careers gone downhill rapidly since! shame Downhill rapidly? Ross2509
He's only been signed for cover for their regular who is injured in that position, when he is fit Black will be told to :censored: off back to Mansfield. Second choice left - back at Mansfield is about where Black should be. Terrible, terrible left - back.

Ross2509
Personally I thought he was really, really bad. So many mistakes leading to goals from him it was unreal, even Dickov saw that and dropped him. Resorting to switch Lee at LB and having Adeyemi at RB at one point! iamjonesyyoafc
I think it was his dismal performance at Chesterfield in 2012 that was the final nail in his coffin.

Same from Neal Eardley really - always got caught on the turn and bam, we've conceded. Although, he had more natural ability than Black. oafc-latics
Black was half decent, and if he'd been offered a new deal I wouldn't have complained. League Two is probably his level, but fair play to him for wanting games, he's just not very good at picking clubs without an established LB. Nowhere near as solid as Grounds/Eardley/Lee, but nowhere near as bad or 'terrible' as some people say he was. The right word is probably 'average'.
